• Okay, so I moved to Melbourne a couple weeks ago with enough money to stay at a hostel. It took me ages to find a job and I've just found one. I don't get paid for another couple of weeks and now I don't have a dollar to my name. I tried couch surfing but nothing so far. So, I tried calling a crisis accommodation. The woman on the phone was not at all compassionate and wouldn't even give me advice for other options. She said that the Australian Government isn't responsible for travellers and if I didn't come prepared enough then I should just sleep on the streets. I don't know what to think. Part of me agrees with her, but part of me thinks that if a 20 year old girl needed help, I would help her, no matter where she is from. Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit wrong?

without getting into the argument about help for foreigners, have you posted on the last minute couch request group. They can be quite good.
