Biggest snow storm since 1971 in Montreal on Thursday. I went skying yesterday in perfect sunny conditions and the highways were cleared of snow already. January is usualy cold so if you like extremes this is good for you. Temperatures will vary from -5c to -15c

There is snowstorm everywhere in winter except close to the Gulf of Mexico ;)

Temperatures go up and down but they try to keep a good ice or snow base in any case when need it (not on the road or sidewalk usually), don't worry.

Of course middle of January is a good time for traveling, it's the only time to sleep in or visit over the ice hotel and resort!

The average temperatures for mid-January are probably around -10°C to -15°C. And yes, it does get much worst than that in both January and February.

-5°C in January is considered quite balmy in these parts! ;-)
