• I have a layover in Hong Kong the morning of March 11th and I was wondering if (a) there were any specific things I should plan to hit in that narrow timeframe, and (b) if anyone would be interested in hitting them with me? I've never gone solo to a place where I don't speak a word of the language, so I'm nervous about trying to navigate on my own! Halp!

I wouldn't worry about not speaking Cantonese, most people here can speak English. I would recommend that you take the Airport Express train into Central (Hong Kong station). From there you can explore central, ride around on the mid-levels escalator and get some food. Or from the central piers you can ride the Star Ferry to TST where there is also a lot of shopping and restaurants.

    Joel idea is good.

If you'd like to go clubbing, LKF is the most famous area in Central: http://www.lankwaifong.com/index.php?page=home

The tram to the Peak is also located in Central. See if you have time to take a look! http://www.thepeak.com.hk/tc/2_1.asp

    Enjoy your stay in HK!!!
