• Hi, I am wondering if anyone here can tell me about the best way to travel to other cities in France? I will be arriving in Paris, but I have almost 3 weeks, so I would also like to check out some other places.

First, where do you recommend and why? Right now I am thinking Nice, Lyon, ...

Second, what is the best way to travel by train? And how much in advance do I need to book? My friend seemed to think that I need to book in advance for getting much cheaper tickets... Is it true? I prefer not to have to decide all my dates at this point if I don't have to...

    Thanks!

Hola, yes, I confirm it's better to book in advance for train (especialy for TGV). But you can travel by car and share the price with the conductor and other passenger(s) for cheaper. Have a look on covoiturage.com (or bla bla car).

    Goog trip !

    Thanks!
How much do you recommend to book ahead? One or two days is enough?
I'll check the site you mentioned too. Cheers

    Hi Ki Rin
all depends on what are your point of interests, History,? architecture?
sociologie? this decide what to visit, France has about 1.000 years history, 400 of them are modern history
Nice was italian until XVII and still is a bit, the rear countryside is very nice, such as Coursegoulles, the city of nice has nothing to see except may be "le marché au fleurs"
I would put a mixed bag
Paris including Versailles, Lyon, Mont Saint Michel, Chateaux de la Loire, all Perigord for food and XII to XVII century history
have a nice trip in our country
