    American Theatre Architecture Archive at Theatre Historical Society of
    America (THS) seeks applications for the annual Thomas R. Du Buque
    Research Fellowship.
    Applications should be sent to Kathy McLeister, Archive Director no later than November 01 of each year.
    should be for a publicly available product such as an article, film,
    book, exhibit, dissertation, thesis, or other result shared with
    academic and/or public audiences

    Archives and collections are dedicated to preserving the architectural,
    cultural and social history of America's theatres. It contains
    information on more than 17,000 theatres, primarily in the United
    States. Every period and style is represented including 19th century
    opera houses, nickelodeons, vaudeville houses, small town and
    neighborhood theatres, open-air theatres, drive-ins, and movie palaces.
    The Fellowship was created to support scholars conducting research in
    the Society's archives and collections, to increase awareness of the
    Archives, and encourage its use. Grants of up to $1,500 are
    available to students, faculty, authors, and other users who would like
    to visit the archives for research. Grants may be used to fund travel,
    lodging, copying, scanning, photo reproduction, photo publication
    rights, and other research expenses. Preferred projects will involve the
    study of theatre architecture, theatre architects, and the operation of
    theatres in the United States

    The annual competition is open to undergraduates, graduate students,
    college and university faculty, independent scholars, and others who
    would like to use the archives and collections for research. Previous
    winners of the Du Buque Research Fellowship may not apply the year
    following their award, but may apply in later years. Applicants may
    submit only one proposal per year.
    To Apply[/b]: Fill out the application form on the website (http://historictheatres.org) and attach the following documents:
    • Research project summary (not less than 100 words nor more than 1,000 words)
    • Pages must be numbered, with the title of the proposal (abbreviated if necessary) on each page
    • A resume/vita, including previous publications, exhibits, and/or projects
    • Project budget that clearly states the amount sought and specific expenses anticipated
    • At least one but no more than three references confirming the applicant's research project and/or their research potential
    All submissions must arrive by close of business on the day of deadline. [/b]Award
    notification will take place in December of each year. Submission may
    be via fax or mail, but THS prefers electronic submissions. Applications
