• Hello everyone :D I am really excited about visiting Iceland, but I haven't really planned anything quite yet. I really wanted to go glacier hiking but it's extremely expensive (I'm a student) as I don't have the equipment or expertise, does anyone have an affordable organisation to recommend as well as other ways to get around cheaply? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone is up for meeting (I'm arriving in Reykjavik), give me a holla, Cheers!

    Hey there Lauriane.

If you want to go glacier hiking i think its rather expensive it will probably cost about 150 euros from Reykjavík but like 80 Euros if your near Skaftafell (south part of iceland) and those trips are probably beginners friendly and no specific gear needed. http://www.glacierguides.is/ or http://www.hvannadalshnukur.is/
you can probably find plenty of tours by googleing "jöklar ferðir" or "glacier tours"

If you want to get around the country we have this website called samferða that means "carpooling". It's free, a great place to travel the country and fills up those empty seats. Some people request dividing gas money and others just offer you a ride.
Hitchhiking in Iceland is also really easy but i wouldn't do it in the wintertime weathers. www.samferda.net

    Hope this helps!
