• The sumo tournament at Ryogoku, Tokyo, is this week. We have been many times and really like it.

Here is a blog post I wrote about buying cheap tickets and planning a perfect day of sumo, food, and Tokyo Edo museum next door:

We are planning on going this Saturday! Join us if you can!

    Hey Rich/Joan
Just read your post here and on your blog, interesting, thanks for sharing!
I did read that day 15 is not the easiest to get a ticket... but anyway there will be those 350 tickets on sale that morning, right?
Is that day special with some special events for the closure, and are the games like among the winners of the others? (because if indeed last day of a tournament makes me think about this, the fact that prices seem to be the same no matter the day makes me doubt it).
Thanks for letting me know, so I can decide if I want to queue for hours or not ;)

    Ayaka,

Do you know if we can buy the discount tickets on the Internet? Or are they only for sale at the stadium?

    Dear David,

I believe they always have 350 cheap tickets for every day.

If you want to go, then the earlier is better. If you are later, you risk not being able to get a ticket.

Day 1, 8, and 15 are the beginning, middle and end of tournament and are more popular

    Good luck!

    Hey Rich and Ayaka
It seems that those discount tickets are only on sale at the gate then, which totally makes sense, for people careful with money they have to go.
In my case I guess I'll try to get there on Sunday, early.
And if I don't wake up on time, then should go to the next tournament, I'll still be here ;)
