• Hey guys,

I'm really keen to get a game of curling organised in Vancouver. I already have a few mates that are keen for a game, but as a COMPLETE NOVICE, I'd like to organise a fun game, where we can laugh and make mistakes and then go and drink beer and be merry.

I've been to the curling center in Queen Elizabeth Park - (directions) http://www.vancouvercurlingclub.com/about/map which looked pretty cool.

I'm new to Vancouver, so I'd love a friendly group of people to have a laugh with!

    Thoughts?

I went curling with my office a few weeks ago at the VCC and it was really fun. There were a few of us who also thought it would be fun to go again - keep me updated if you want to make arrangements.

Wow, great start! OK, is there a location that people would prefer? And i'm assuming that you'll want to do it on a weekend? I'll start organising!

I prefer the one at Hillcrest and definitely on the weekend. :)

    I've tentatively booked two sheets - up to 20 people for;

    21st April - 11:30 - 13:30 at http://www.vancouvercurlingclub.com/about/map

I already have a about 8 people that can play, so I guess I'll accept the next 12 or something. Is that how this works? haha

Should I post this differently, or is this ok?

Cost is $155 for each sheet, so $15 each plus 5% tax.

    Cheers,
    McB

Sounds great! This is only my opinion but I would be mostly concerned about getting reliable people to show up. Maybe ask people to pay upfront if they can? Also - I would suggest people pay $20 per person (because 16 people would be a good turnout and I'm sure there will be no-shows, etc). If extra people turn up, just use the extra money for drinks and food after :) But again, just my thoughts.

That's a great idea! I'll let this sit here for a week or so, and see how we're going for numbers.

Then we'll re-assess. I can always just have one sheet and have alternating players.. Let's see if this gets any interest from my friends and the CS world, then I'll make the final arrangements.

You're right - $20 makes sense, if it's too much, then we'll have a pitcher or two afterwards..

Hey Iain, an ex-colleague from Bangkok is visiting this weekend and I have not seen her for a long time. So I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it for curling this Sunday.
    Have fun!
