To work legally in NZ, you need a visa/permit that allows that (or a KIwi/Oz passport).
Those visas are WHV, long-term student with work-permitting conditions attached, Residency, partner visa, or work visa.

If your girlfriend does not want to/cannot apply for a long-term student visa or a WHV, then you're mostly left with the work visa.
If she can find an employer who can convince ImmigrationNZ that she is the best choice of employee, and if her qualifications are recognized, then a visa tying her to that job is possible.

Otherwise, you might possibly fall into the 'seasonal workers' farm workers category...check the immigration NZ website for info on that.

Hey, I am a podiatrist too and have been looking for work in new Zealand , there are not many opportunities for podiatrists it would seem but do not give up hope, keep searching. On the other hand, oz seems to be crying out for podiatrists, good luck x
