About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spread knowledge of permaculture and stay true to it's principals wherever I wind up.

ABOUT ME

Last year I discovered that I love to travel out of my comfort zone, so I've been making big changes in my life to allow myself to explore this passion with an open mind and heart. I let life's stream guide me where it may, and synchronicities have become my road map. My patience knows no limits, and I can find joy and peace in the most mundane situations. I grew up very reserved in my personality, but exploring the world has allowed me to explore aspects of myself I never knew existed.
*Now a certified Permaculturist!

PHILOSOPHY

Don't fill life with superficial friendships and experiences. Hold no expectations. The heart knows the things that truly make me happy, and it's up to my volition to make sure I seek what I love. Try to always put 'Yourself' into any undertaking. Remember: We have the ability to turn our inner spark into a divine light. Forgive and volunteer. Do not wish; set intentions and follow through. Your word is bond, your actions reflect soul. Love as much as possible, and more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I discovered this site while planning a trip to the Yucatan in Mexico, and I have had three amazing experiences being hosted. I will use this site in many more locations in the future, and I plan to invite many surfers into my home as soon as I settle.

Update: CS is the best! I have continued to use the site to join events and continue my travels and met nothing but the best of people. Will be a part of this for as long as I breathe!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience was In Mexico where I was graciously hosted by three different members of this site, and even though my Spanish is not fluent I found myself feeling more welcome in their homes in a foreign land than many past experiences I've had traveling in the States.

Since that experience, I planned my next trip to be even more involved with Couchsurfing and had the best time with hosts in Melbourne, Perth, Bali, Surabaya / Yogyakarta (Java, Indonesia), Malaysia, and Singapore.

Interests

Sustainability, consciousness, running, hiking, biking, skateboarding, snowboarding.

Music is the reason I spend so much time browsing the Internet. I try hard to stay current on a dizzying array of genres, and whenever I have extra cash I will catch a local show.

I've recently replaced my love of most movies and television with reading, exploring and soul-searching. I'm on a quest to reinvent what I call my culture and to encourage others who are dissatisfied with the way things are to create the change they wish to see.

I'm very interested in improving cognitive function and expanding/exploring consciousness. This interest led to a much greater appreciation of nature and sustainability, and actually giving a damn about what happens to the environment.

Music, Movies, and Books

I worked at a movie rental store before they became obsolete. I enjoy nearly all movies, but love cult-classics, sci-fi, and horror.

Reading has mostly been philosophical, spiritual, inspirational, or informational. For the rare fiction- Eggers and Vonnegut are my go-to guys.
Tina Fey's Bossypants was a laugh riot, and The Hippie Guide to Climbing the Corporate Ladder...How Jansport Made it Happen really kicked me into Travel Mode.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I first saw the light, it was the most incredible feeling I ever experienced. Every time I connect with another person on a deep level, I am more amazed with what this life has to offer.

A festival on the beach in Mexico during the Mayan new year was certainly a highlight of my life.

Recently I was taken to a cave in Yogyakarta that is totally dark and mostly filled with water so you needed headlamps and a guide to make the hour and a half spelunk through it.

Teach, Learn, Share

During my trip to Australia, I took a Permaculture Design course and am now a certified designer. I would be happy to share anything I know related to permaculture, which is an amazing method of natural, sustainable farming following 3 core principals (Earth care, people care, fair share).
If you like movies, television, video games, or indie
/ electronic music, I can definitely recommend you something to check out. I can also fix or speed up your computer and teach you methods of using the Internet to find things you're looking for.
I am Very interested in permaculture, aquaculture, mycology, natural restoration, and organic farming. I am hoping to gain more experience in these fields during my travels.
