About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Know myself better.

ABOUT ME

When I was little I wanted to do service work overseas because it sounded like a giant camping trip. Maybe not the most noble start to a life of aid work, but I guess it gets the job done.

I've living in Southeast Asia since 2011 working with people in war areas. Thanks to my accommodations in a lovely bamboo hut for much of that time I'm really not picky about living arrangements. I returned to the US in 2015 to get medical care for a freak elephant bite accident, but after a year headed back into the world.

Now I just do healthcare and consulting, and spend my spare time hiking, practicing MMA, or hanging out with my friends. My only regret living in Asia is that I don't have a workshop to build stuff. I dream of someday building my own tiny house of some kind. It's all adventure and learning, all the time!

I'm moving to Durham, NC to study Physician Assistant. The next adventure? Re-learn how to be an American.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything you do, do to the best of your human ability.

Forgive yourself.

If you want to love others, love yourself first.

Do something courageous every day.

Don't hold your breath too long. But hold it longer than you think you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was once at a Holi party in Malaysia with a bunch of Nigerian guys I met on couchsurfing.com. It was one of the awesomest multicultural experiences of my life.

Come by Chiang Mai for hiking or a tour of my adopted home. But get here soon because I'm leaving.

Interests

Because I work in human rights, I'm really interested in people and how people treat each other. Every day I learn more about how to love other people.
I spend my free time exercising, exploring the outdoors, freediving, reading (currently Tale of Two Cities. Again), or feebly trying to keep up with current events in my home country. Who is Timothee Chalamet?

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list, you'd have to ask me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can juggle flaming torches, solve a rubix cube under water, and make a killer cup of coffee (I think so. Real barista's don't agree). A hundred feet under water holding my breath is like a walk in the park. Only more relaxing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell you all about Thailand, give advice for international travel or living, or give you input about interacting with people of other cultures in your own home. I can make you coffee or regale you with jungle tales. I can edit your papers or tell you random facts about history. I can teach you to get all your plane tickets for free by Travel Hacking. Mostly, I can become a part of your ever expanding global family so you always know you have a place to stay in Thailand when you visit.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Canada, Croatia, Egypt, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
