About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live life for the story!

ABOUT ME

oh you know, I'm all the things you'd expect from a couchsurfer... like traveling, open minded, liberal, vegetarian etc etc. I'd like to have a life less ordinary, so if you have any advice on this, feel free to share it. In my experience these self-description things are usually pretty inaccurate. But one important thing: I hate chocolate. Please don't buy me any!

PHILOSOPHY

Hug trees! Save whales!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A healthy balance of hosting, surfing and mingling at various CS events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

more than some, less than others.

Interests

Well you've probably guessed by now that I like cycling... Other than that it's a pretty mixed bag, which includes: nature, mountains (rivers, lakes etc), puns and other lame jokes, the incredible kindess of strangers, cake, bio and eco sciences, the sunscreen song, costume parties, heroic animal stories, discussing worldly matters, drawing pictures using microsoft paint, Buckfast, fine wine, people watching, tramping (nz word for hiking), hitch hiking, the BBC, bonfires, telling stories (especially whilst drinking), simplicity, learning Spanish, learning German, learning in general, novelty shops, attempting artistic photography, beaches (especially ones with big waves), New Zealand, all the other countries, hugs, fluro, one hit wonders from the 80s, vegetarianism, emoticons and my bed :-) If you can find one thing in that list that you also like then get in touch!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Favourite fiction is probably Sula by Toni Morrison and non-fiction Small is Beautiful by EF Schumaker

movies: Really haven't seen many, but THE CASTLE(!!!) would be pretty up there. Thought-provoking stuff without happy endings is cool too, like Once Were Warriors and a few others which I forget. Oh and now that I've traveled a bit, I suppose Before Sunrise would have to make this list too... haha..

music: cheesy pop music from the 60s-80s - can't beat it! Also that variety of music that seems only to exist in NZ - fat freddy's drop, Salmonella dub, trinity roots... amazing stuff to lie in the sun listening to. And Jazz! Especially live, and especially when played by buskers. Just another one of those little things in life which warms me inside :-D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I did a solo bike trip from Northern France to Amsterdam. However the real achievement was not getting TO Amsterdam but getting AROUND Amsterdam, especially trying to keep up with my Dutch friend, which was truly terrifying.

And, when I was 18 I got over the barrier at a Metallica concert, which was pretty awesome at the time!

Aaaaaaaaand maybe a few other things, but this is not the place to tell THOSE stories... heh heh...
