About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is short - spend it with interesting people! And gather lots of experiences.

ABOUT ME

Always positive and outgoing, but with an introspective, philosophical side that shows up randomly. I have done many different jobs in an effort to really experience life: Mechanical Design Engineer, Computer Programmer, Sales & Marketing Director, Business Owner, Motivational Speaker, Long-Haul Truck Driver, Alaskan Fishing Boat Crewhand, Professional Musician, Holistic Healer, Rock & Roll Tour Bus Driver, Hypno-Therapist, Oilfield Tanker Truck Driver, Music Teacher, Nightclub Owner, Oil Drilling Rig Poison Gas Safety Man, Farmhand on an Organic farm, Oilfield Landman, Hitched all over Europe and the USA, Machine-Shop Owner, and a few more. I still would like to be in the Cirque de Soleis and work as a helicopter pilot.

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life so that at the end you will never look back with regret on something that you didn't try because you were afraid. We are only here a short time.

Have Adventures, Forgive Others, Love Yourself, Cut yourself a LOT of slack as Life is very tough.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
by Mark Twain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not really doing International Traveling right now until my cashflow is a little more established. Then, I am moving back to Europe and going back to being a full-time musician, possibly living on the coast in Italy, Spain, or France.

But I would like to use CouchSurfing.com to meet more people near me and in adjacent areas who are interesting, positive, well-travelled and fun.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have Couch-surfed with some GREAT people here in the USA!

Couch-Surfed all throughout Europe while back-packing after graduating from college before the CS system existed. What a GREAT way to meet EXCELLENT, like-minded people and learn about new cultures and places!

Couch-Surfed while crossing the USA several times while hitch-hiking. Met a LOT of interesting people. WAY fun!

Interests

Travel & Adventure of any type. Playing & singing in local Rock & Blues bands. Sailing. Motorcycling. Thinking very deep thoughts. Saving the Universe one beer at a time. Have studied Zen Buddhism, Matrix Energetics, The Course in Miracles, and Shamanism.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS: "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz, "Blue Highways" by William Least Heat Moon, "The On-Purpose Person" by Kevin McCarthy, "The Course In Miracles", "The Four-Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferris, "The Little Money Book", "Miracles" and all other metaphysical books by Stuart Wilde, "The Richest Man in Babylon", all subjects of MetaPhysics. A short Favorite Authors list: Stuart Wilde, Deepak Chopra, Napolean Hill, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracey, Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, others in the same genre of "mind improvement".

Websites: ThriveMovement.com, FourHourWorkWeek.com.

MAGAZINES: Smithsonian, Forbes, MAD magazine, Maxim, and The National Geographic "Adventure" edition.

MUSIC: open to pretty much anything that has talent in it. Rock, Blues, Rap, Country, Americana, Singer-Songwriter, Retro. (And a guilty passion for 1980's Hair-Metal Rock bands. My secret wish would be to be reincarnated as David Coverdale or Kip Winger.) However, since I like music with TALENT, this means that Britney Spears, In-Sync, Gansgta Rap, the Backstreet Boys and all that kind of garbage should be slow-roasted over an open fire. This, however, will NOT improve its taste.

MOVIES: Monty Pythons' Search For the Holy Grail, Airplane, The Matrix, The Secret, ZeitgeistMovie, SuperSize Me, What The Bleep Do We Know? (more to be added - I'm having a brain freeze right now)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*Ran with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain (THREE times). *Bungee-jumped from a 243 foot tall bridge four times. *Drove the lighting truck for the "Grateful Dead" band on Summer Tour - that was weird.
*Have achieved "Out of Body Travel" 5 times now after studying OBE Classes at the Monroe Institute in Virginia - that is amazing!
*Have Studied Acupuncture, Shamanism, Matrix Energetics Eckankar and Meditation.
*Got to jam, personally, one-on-one, with world-famous Bluesman Albert "Iceman" Collins, "The Master of the Telecaster". It was just he & I, backstage after the Galway Ireland Blues Festival. I took my acoustic guitar to him backstage for him to sign. He took it, retuned it to some type of weird Cmaj7-13 tuning with a 1/2 step lowered E string, and he started playing it. So I brought out my Harmonicas, and we started playing together. Just he & I. For 45 minutes. And when we finished, he looked at me and said, "You come by Ol' Albert's house anytime and look me up. You're good, kid! Keep it up." Unfortunately, Albert died of cancer a year later. Because I WAS going to look him up someday...

It's hard to tell which was the most amazing. There's a lot more to be experienced in this life.

Teach, Learn, Share

MUSIC LESSONS - HARMONICA: I can teach ANYONE to play the Blues Harmonica, and to stand up and play with a band (or "sit in" as it's called) in FIFTEEN MINUTES! I have done it at least 20 times. If you have the guts & nerve to do it (and a harmonica), I can teach you how.

GUITAR: I am a pretty good "Beginner" to "Intermediate" Guitar instructor. I taught guitar lessons to about 15 people per week for about for 2 years.

SALES, MARKETING, PUBLIC SPEAKING: I have been a professional Marketing & Sales trainer, with focuses on Goal-Setting and Personal Development for many years. I have taught that in seminars, and can give you pointers & tips that work.

NATURAL HEALING & PAIN RELIEF: I have studied many years to be a Holistic Healer and can treat people for pain, illness, and phobias using "Energy methods" such as Reiki, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Matrix Energetics and EFT/Acupressure. I have also learned about the "Energetic Placement" of objects in a home using the Oriental art of Feng Shui, and am getting pretty good at it. The basics are pretty simple and I can teach you how to get out of pain. See www.RichmondGarwood.com for more details.

HANDYMAN: I am reasonably handy with a screwdriver & wrench and can fix things around your house or domicile. I have rebuilt auto engines & transmissions although it has been several years since I have done that.

Countries I’ve Visited
