About Me

Rationalize everything, shirk responsibilities, shift blame, and colour outside the lines! But the opposite of that! probably.

Attention Deficit Disorder and probably socially anhedonic

You know who needs to read it.

All folly can lead to brilliance, and all brilliance can lead to folly, so don't sweat it, eh?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just bored and I like mutually beneficial distractions. I apologize in advance for not responding, I am a tough nut to crack.

Interests

I dunno, I seem to have accumulated a few person's worth of music equipment (eurorack modular), backpacking, mountain-biking, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing gear. Mountain bikes get the most use. (Yes, plural)
Always up for some kind of recreational or creative jam

Science-based skepticism, cognitive biases, environmental and agricultural issues, critical thinking, sciences. Philosophy and psychology. Radical honesty, authenticity, Feminism, LGBTQA+ issues, anti-poverty and social justice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most of my outdoor adventures have a recurring theme where folly brings me close to death, so some people might find that interesting, I guess. When I consider how bad things could have been, I don't think I've done anything all that amazing without being totally at the whim of things I have no control over.

Teach, Learn, Share

I use this one to humble myself all the time:

"Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting." Hah! I've always liked that quote.

I may be able to teach a bit of proper mountain bike riding and maintenance. I have one of those brains that is happy to regurgitate everything it knows or thinks it knows, so be warned. Information dumping dilettante.

“Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the 'transcendent' and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don't be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.”
- Christopher Hitchens

What I Can Share with Hosts

I once hosted someone with a severe smelly foot odour which lingered wherever his feet touched and took months to get rid of even after he left, so I can guarantee that I will do everything possible to avoid bringing a similar contamination into your home.

Oh, and I will tell you if you: need a shower, have something on your face, have to do up your zipper, have a booger hanging from your nose, or have anything else I think might be wrong with you ;-)
