About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Open my eyes & fill my brain with as much as possible & then a little more.

ABOUT ME

I don't know, that's a tough question...

They'd probably say I'm a lovely lad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed/hosted with loads of people on CS and off of it and all the experiences have been great. I think it's amazing to just strike up a friendship with another person because of a shared trust and openness to connect and help another.

I stayed with 2 French animators in Kilkenny, we went to an amazing experimental Jazz night and then stayed up all night talking about animation and sipping at whiskeys.

One of my best experiences was when I was let down by a host in Utrecht, The Netherlands and it just so happened to be the night of the couchsurfing New Years party for 2013. At the party a new guy who had never hosted or couchsurfed before took his first dip into the community and offered to host me 2 nights out of the blue and saved my skin!

Good people these couchsufers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like being pushed with my musical tastes, I think there's something to appreciate in every genre but right now I'm listening to a lot of Jazz (Pharoah Sanders, Polar Bear, The Cinematica Orchestra, Miles Davis).

Movies: Films that makes me think, question, learn, look again, fill me with awe or are stunningly beautiful (La Haine, Stalker, Blue is the Warmest Colour, Old Boy, Ghost in a Shell, Requiem for a Dream).

Books: Pages that are filled with ideas, new vantage points, that make me question myself, give me hope, educate me or take me on a journey (The Upcycle - McDonough & braungart, A City for People - Gehl, White Tiger - Adigi, The Spirit Level - Wilkinson & Pickett, The Enchantress of Florence - Rushdie, Homage to Catalonia - Orwell, El Sueño de la Celta - Vargas Llosa, The Road - McCarthy, Eating Animals - Safron Foer)
I'm currently reading 'This Changes Everything' by Naomi Klien

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Boating down the Ganges in Benares/Varanasi at night watching a Hindu cremation ceremony. (2012)

Hitching to Electric Picnic Music Festival without tickets and money with my two best mates. Having one of the most exciting, fun and energetic weekends and spending less than 10e. (2012)

Marching in the Real Democracia Ya demonstrations in Barcelona with more people than you could imagine. (2011)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you English, Spanish and handstands.

I want to learn the saxophone, eco/sustainable construction, German/Portugese/Mandarin/Russian, organic farming, how to fix bikes and more or less everything else!

Countries I’ve Visited
