About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the country through Wwoofing (organic farming, as a means to meet people and explore places) or Couch Surfing

ABOUT ME

Recent College Grad (Oberlin College 2012) currently exploring the country as a means to procrastinate real life. I am going from the East Coast to the West Coast primarily through Wwoofing (volunteer organic farming).

PHILOSOPHY

I'm looking for some reason that gives my life meaning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experiences through the CouchSurfing program but multiple hostel stays in multiple countries and lots of volunteer organic farming in Japan and across the USA. Basically, I've slept on a lot of uncomfortable couches/beds/floors.

Interests

Meeting new people, exploring new places, learning new skills and philosophies. I'm interested in microbrewing, food (cooking, eating, growing/producing), tea, and probably a whole lot more. I'd love to learn how to play guitar or violin or some other string instrument. I like discussing philosophy, history, and pretty much anything else academic or otherwise.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lord of the Rings, Lion King, Fight Club, Rounders, Wes Anderson, Classic Rock, Folk Rock, Folk, Rock, Hip-Hop, Classical, Banjos, Malazan Book of the Fallen, a ton of other movies and books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, hard question, I've lived a privileged life. I traveled to Japan by myself at the age of 18 to volunteer on organic farms (first time travelling by myself). I've helped a Ghanaian farmer create a biodiesel processor. I've seen the rolling hills of Nebraska, the towering peaks of Colorado, the trees turning across the country, molten lava in Hawaii, fairy chimneys in Cappadocia, Lake Van in Turkey, the Dead Sea in Israel, the Grand Canyon, the New York City skyline, the view over Rio, the Parthenon, a small mountain village on the island of Samos and much more.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I have to share is my life, and what I have to learn is yours. I don't know how to define the specifics of parts of my life are 'worth' teaching.

I think that the experience of meeting new people is both scary and important, no matter what the outcome. Consequently I both love and fear meeting new people. I'm always nervous meeting new people but at the same time I know it will help make me a more complete and open-minded person.
