To provide a home away from home, to enjoy the sailing experiences I can provide. To offer a Work/Play/Sail Venue that travelers gain experience and new skills as they travel.

ABOUT ME
An explorer by nature and hope to discover the people who will influence my life going forward.
As a Sagittarius you will never read anything that does not describe me well. There are some exclusive talents that you will need to explore if you have an interest in knowing me better. But a sailing experience is possible if time and opportunity affords. And with Work/Play/Sail option sailing is a benefit earned including some training.

There are people who judge a person before they get to know them, I AM NOT ONE. We must stand up for what we feel is right but never be a steamroller.
My history is amazing and by daughter, grandchildren and family light up my world. They live further than I would like but I see them as often as I can.

As a fellow explorer, most of my life, has been visiting a variety of places making the conversation varied and wide.

I would suggest that you not be shy in sharing your life stories as I am an information sponge. I am healthy, walk over 100 miles monthly and use an Iphone "Runkeeper" application to track walking, cycling, and sailing. I enjoy healthy people, healthy conversation, and the explorers' of the world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Since my couch is in the Titusville they would say...Just wait for the adventure!
My Host Venue is a Catamaran Sailboat, at the dock, with all the amenities. Max (5) five guests, when available. My availability is seasonal also connect and discuss the Work/Play/Sail option of my venue though direct and other work sites. I enjoy workaway.info best for my work/play guests.

House Rules:
A; You need to bring your own food & drink or financial support toward group food, I have large cooler, freezer, Ice to buy at $2.50 per bag (most people contribute to ice fund).
B: Blankets, sheets and towels are available for 5 people donation for cleaning $2.00 for one set of linens (do not make me ask, do not sleep on mattress pads) No Laundromat or washer and dryer available.
C: Sleeping bags, air mattresses work great on trampoline (under the stars)
D: Clean after yourself (bedroom, bathroom & kitchen)
E: You can NOT use MY computer; Free wifi for all systems available.
F: Make sure you have taken a shower in the last 48 hours before surfing my couch (basic hygiene). I have a shower on boat, one at the rest rooms, and a sun-shower on cockpit-deck.
G: You are on my sailboat when I am present. You leave the Sailboat with me. (I will NOT give you a code to my boat or access when I am not present) If trust is earned it is given.
H: I have no vehicle but have large discount with enterprise/national car rentals. But public transportation, taxis ($5.00 anywhere in Marathon) bicycle paths are everywhere. Bus to Key West is easy.
I: A short min stay of 2-3 days is preferred. I am a great fun adventure but must support my gift to you through this donation. All the things you look for in couch surfing and more is my offer. I also offer another option of work/play/sail just ask.
J:I am a smoke free environment. There are smoking areas available for guests and must be used for smokers.

Please be sensitive that this is not a free-loading organization (Couchsurfing.org). I understand that I will save you between $100-$175 for housing while you visit the Keys so I DO EXPECT you to participate in food purchases, and other sundry items.
That you go sailing for a (4) hour sailing adventure that includes training if desired. Ask me what I need and I will tell you because I want this to work well for both of us. I have a very limited income and do not feel I must support your travels but be a host to a great project. Ask me about Work/Play/Sail option.

Otherwise you may enjoy the great pool area, travel around TITUSVILLE for a $5 bus ride, or enjoy our nice beaches that are close in my area. We always return, at sunset, to the dock.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The guests I have already met are amazing. I have found a venue that may create lifetime friends. Come aboard, enjoy my experiences and make new ones of your own.
Sometimes I am concerned though as it should not be a free-loading project but an equal balanced relationship. Food should not be my responsibility but a gesture. I have had a few guests that do not offer to take me out, or bring food in to cook. I want this to be a great experience for both of us and look forward to finding a diplomatic way of solving these minor communication issues.

I have also discovered that some want to stay on the boat but not sail. Couchsurfing is designed for free stays and exchange and I love that principle. I also must make a living to keep this freedom available. I make ends meet by my gift of teaching sailing. So if you are not interested in sailing there are many other hosts and hostels that might fit your needs. I am also an airbnb.com host were my Work/Play/Sail option and details are available and you can pay to stay without sailing through that venue. Then add days of Work and Sailing.

I own over 900 DVD's, I am eclectic like you would not believe from music to movies. Do not like Horror but will enjoy the best of a great action adventure to the sweetest romantic.
Love to be read to..in fact it is the greatest single gift you can offer.I also have an amazon fire box and netflix, hulu, showtime, hbo for the raining or nights after play.

I have traveled many places but still consider my sailing adventures to be the most amazing. You can never sail the exact same places, the same way, with the same events. And if the crew is chosen well even more things happen to make it a rewarding adventure. When I get about six hours I will expound, or just come visit me I will tell you.

I have three opening questions that help me to understand the level of participation you desire (answer when you arrive);
1. Do you want to learn to sail on a limited "hands on" basis or just enjoy the wind, sun, and ride?
2. Do you get motion sickness? Yes___ NO____ I have no idea___
(we will provide a very simple solution that works 99% of the time to overcoming motion sickness)
3. Do you snorkel, snuba, or scuba dive (if not we can certify in 3 days just ask)?
You will learn to sail, aerodynamics, diving safety measures and full instruction for scuba diving certification is available.

A typical day of sailing; Leave the dock between 10am, watch or learn to raise sails, sit in helm to steer, and multiple tacks, enjoy the view, water and wind. Anchor and snorkel and return for sunset if the desire is to see it from the water. Food at anchor and then return to dock.

If you speak a language and do not know english I understand, but if you speak english I would expect the common practice, while you are here, to speak my language to me and each other. We can all learn from one-another and I would enjoy learning a language or two but on my own terms.
