About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Grow and develop as a person and professional.

ABOUT ME
I am a Swedish New Zealander living and teaching at an international university in Suzhou, China. In my free time, I enjoy doing sports and staying active, meeting friends for coffee or beer, and reading and discussing various books, including fiction and non-fiction. Having lived in Sweden, the UK and China, I am a mix of different cultures and like to learn languages and find out more about other cultures and customs. So far, my life has brought me to a lot of different places, and it is difficult for me to say where I will be next.

In general, I am a friendly and easy-going guy and hope to be a good host to any visiting CouchSurfers while keeping my place clean and organised. When travelling, I am also respectful of my hosts and don't like to take up too much time or space.

Please read through my profile before sending requests.

PHILOSOPHY

Every moment and every action counts for making us who we are. Live life in the moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I take part in CouchSurfing meetings on a regular basis.

Surfing and traveling when I'm free or have a decent place to stay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted loads of great surfers in Sweden, England and China. Also surfed some couches and made great new friends in China, Thailand, and all over the world.

Interests

Reading a range of books, including biographies (Elon Musk), short stories (The Gift of the Magi), and historical novels (e.g. Ravenspur), as well as more or less academic literature on language, education, and technology in higher education (British, American).

I also stay active and regularly run, hike and swim in and around Suzhou as part of social groups or alone.

Travelling when I get the chance.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like thoughtful and interesting movies such as Cloud Atlas, the Butterfly Effect, and The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but I haven't watched much in recent years. Very much open to suggestions here.

I listen to a little bit of everything when it comes to music, but especially folk (Bob Dylan), live jazz music, and classical music. All the same, I am open to most kinds of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Met wild monkeys face to face at Monkey Mountain in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Saw the burst of a geyser in Rotorua, New Zealand, and travelled around Tunisia without speaking either French or Arabic.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you Swedish, English and maybe (basic) Chinese.
If you are interested, I could probably teach you some teaching techniques I use as well.

I enjoy learning new languages and especially trying foods and drinks from different countries and regions.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A couch when I am available.

Travel stories and photos from around the world.

Some languages and history I picked up from various different places.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
