About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become a great filmmaker! But I'll settle for just earning a living making films...

ABOUT ME

After studying and working in many different fields...I have taken on the challenge of filmmaking....of all things!
I am a member of Kino Montréal, a dynamic group of filmmakers who produce short films according to the motto: “Faites bien avec rien, faites mieux avec peu, faites-les maintenance! (loosely translated: Do it with with nothing, do it even better with just a bit, but do it now!
I have participated in the Festival International de la Littérature and the Festival des Courts-métrages de Montréal (FCMM). One of my films was chosen for the Fantasia film festival here in Montreal.

PHILOSOPHY

For me, participating in the couchsurfing community is not a matter of taking advantage of a cheap place to sleep. I would much rather sleep on someone's couch than sleep in a five-star hotel (and I have had the opportunity to sleep in magnificent Relais et Chateaux castles), if it means that I can have personal contact with someone from the region I am visiting. I myself have invited strangers I met in my home city, who have since become good friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've always found it more interesting to meet locals rather than stay in antiseptic hotels. In 1991 I became a member of SERVAS, a precursor to Couchsurfing. Through SERVAS I met several very interesting people in California as well as in the Netherlands. So it went without saying that when Couchsurfing appeared I joined. Since then I have hosted and travelled and met several interesting people along the way!

Interests

Music (listening to and playing); traveling (to get to know people rather than just see buildings); critical theory (Barthes, Eagleton, Foucault, Marx , etc.), film, cycling, hiking, meeting people. Film (both watching and making)

Music, Movies, and Books

Of course, I love watching films, although I can't say that I'm a film maniac (i.e. I don't watch 10 films per week); I am generally interested in unorthodox movies (le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, and Being John Malkovich come to mind) where reality itself is questioned.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Many things including magnificent hiking in the Pyrenees, the Alps, cycling in France, bumming around Greece...etc.

Teach, Learn, Share

Over 14 years ago I founded the Montréal Stammtisch, a weekly meeting for people interested in speaking German.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
