About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To wander the world..making new friends along the way. And to be the most badass I can be.

ABOUT ME

Geez..where do I begin?

After getting out of the Navy, I worked on my bachelor's degree online and I lived in Thailand for two years, where I fought muay thai and taught English, while working on my bachelor's degree.

Then, I came back to Chicago where I took up sports writing and photography, honing those skills with a camera lens pressed against the cage at UFC fights.

Now, I just live a somewhat uneventful suburban middle-class life and I ride motorcycles from time to time.

PHILOSOPHY

"Go fast and don't die." "A man can be beaten in two ways: either he quits or dies."

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all music, from Rise Against to the Wu-Tang Clan to Darius Rucker. Whatever grooves me, I'm all about it.

Movies: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, The Last Dragon, Any Tarantino movie, La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2, The Godfather...I love movies.

Books: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, The Man They Wanted Me to Be, Misfit Manifesto...I love to read as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met my travel hero Anthony Bourdain while photographing UFC 175, before Ronda Rousey was about to head to the ring. It was unprofessional for me to fanboy him and I wish I met him a second time to apologize. But I don't regret it for one minute.

Teach, Learn, Share

The act of traveling should be an opportunity to learn and share cultural experiences and what makes a person who they are. And like the philosophy of Bourdain, I see food and drink as a conduit to sharing those experiences. I actually love to cook and wouldn't mind cooking for my hosts and guests if the opportunity presents itself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and stories, food, drink, and a sense of adventure
