About Me

CURRENT MISSION

experiencing as much as humanly possible

ABOUT ME

I always want to be experiencing something. Sitting around doing nothing, makes me feel guilty (however that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a day of doing f@#% all). I have done many travels, enjoy living abroad and hope to be in Africa for the foreseeable future.

Further I like to discuss with other people, on all topics (although I have put a moratorium on discussing religion due to some bad experiences and me being a die hard atheist). But in general I'm always up for a good conversation. Show me alternative views, convince me that I'm wrong, etc. . That being said, I'm not going to make it easy for you :).

Also I am willfully naive. I always want to see the good in people. I'd rather be disappointed in someone than to always question peoples motives. As a consequence, I don't trust people that don't trust other people. That being said I'm not stupid, I'll give everyone a chance, but ... you know.

Humor is the best way for me of dealing with most situations. Whats the point in feeling sorry for yourself for getting ripped off or having a accident. So despite the naivete I can be pretty sarcastic, but it's not out of a cynical point of view, but more of a humor thing.

What else???? oh yeah I'm pretty direct. So I view it as a form of honesty.

Oh some practical stuff: I don't smoke (cigarettes) and I enjoy both a good beer and wine (small and large quantities depending). I prefer a bar with some nice music to a loud disco. Dont mind a party of course, but don't really party every day of the week.

So this pretty comprehensive, but please don't judge me based on this self analyzes :) . Probably I left stuff out, I'm wrong about some things, or I have changed by the time you meet me:)

PHILOSOPHY

'You can't have everything' is a much heard statement. From that people often infer that you shouldn't want everything.

I disagree. It's not because you can't have everything that you shouldn't want everything.

Simple math corroborates my point: if you get 50% of what you want in life, then only wanting 50% from life will get you 25%. On the other hand, if I remain to want all in life, I will end up with 50%, which is 100% more than the alternative outcome!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few years ago an American and Canadian on their Eurotrip stayed over at my place in Ghent. Together with a few friends, who were staying over (because there was a festival in the town) we showed them the Belgian (student) way of life. One of the best summers I've had till now.

Last year I stayed over at the American's place in Washington. While he was working I went on the usual tourist route, and at night he showed me around DC nightlife. Great guy, still call him a friend.

Interests

I like...

Movies/Series: Who says there is something wrong with a little escapism from time to time.

Traveling: kinda obvious seeing as I'm on this site.

People around me: even though I don't mind being alone from time to time. Life is just so much better if you have people around to talk to, have fun, or just share the moment.
