Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A thick rainstorm began pounding down on me without much warning and I looked up at the sky with dismay.
I was walking around the little city of Estelí, Nicaragua, weighed down by everything I owned on my back. A moment later, an old woman stuck her head out of her door and called out to me. "Daughter! Come inside, dry yourself and have a cup of tea."

I gratefully accepted her invitation and sat in her kitchen with her for an hour, chatting and learning all about her family history. I was touched by her generosity and hospitality and years later, still think of her with gratitude. I wish for a world filled with more of this sort of warmth, trust and kindness.

Couchsurfing is an awesome network. With and without it, I've been grateful to be welcomed into many peoples' homes across the globe and happy to open up mine in the same way.
