About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning something new and to take myself to a new level everyday, improving the quality of life & just to love life and live to the fullest

ABOUT ME

I love living!

I have learned that the more I serve the more I learn about the world and about myself. And I believe that if people invest some time a week to help people around them they will have help themselves more then they could have thought. That has lead me to do volunteer work for the Red Cross, State Church, YMCA and YWCA, the Icelandic Human Rights Center, worked with disabled people... and currently I´m a huge fan of the International Justice Mission.

I also have a love for music, dancing, literature, entrepreneurship, art of all kind and I´m a sucker for a good conversation and I don´t have to agree with things to enjoy it if we can disagree agreeably

PHILOSOPHY

Learn like you are going to live forever, Live like you are going to die tomorrow, dance like no one is watching, love like you can't get hurt and serve like you life depends on it...because it does.

For things to change...you have to change! For things to bet better...you have to get better! Jim Rohn

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I recommend sending out alooooot of Official requests, because official requests force people to respond so at least you know what they are thinking...BUT don't just send to anyone without reading trough the profile. Try to say what in the profile you think is the main ting why people might like hosting you (have similar jobs, interests, been to the same countries...)

Interests

Nr. 1 is learning!!!!

I can't write everything I'm interested in but I'll start.

Arts (music, dancing, photography, filming, design, acting, jam sessions...)

Reading (philosophy and theology, health and nutrition, science and tic, anthropology, sales and marketing, personal and business development, communication...)

Foods, there isn´t anything in this world that I won´t try at least once because that is what my mom thought me to do and I enjoy trying something new, preferably every time I eat.

Music, Movies, and Books

Have seen most films with by Tim Burton and Jhonny Deep, prefer thought provoking movies, have a weakness for superhero movies, enjoy most of the series and films geared towards nerds but I never got into Battelstar Galactica so I´m not totally predictable

Music: I find lyrics exspecially important but I like a wide range of music. Love Gospel Music with Kirk Franklin being a favorite, enjoy most of the U2 albums...

In my library are books on religion, philosophy, business, leadership, communication, marketing and sales, Examples are The Bible, books by C.S.Levis, Jim Rohn, Robert T. Kiyosaki, Martin Luther and Martin Luther King, Brian Tracy...

Renting a "normal" car is usually enough when you are traveling in the summer...just don't take any "fancy" roads.
1777 is the nr you call for information about the weather and road condisions, just tell them what kind of car you are on and they can tell you what to do
http://www.vegagerdin.is/english/ this is the page with information about roads and conditions.

This last one is problebly the most cool one
Q:Is April a good month to travel there (like how is the weather hot, cold, springtime?)

A:If you like rain :-)

Q: Is there really good public transportation, or is it necesary to rent a car?

A: You can get anywhere buy bus, but I also have been know to lend my car...if you look trustworthy and pay for wear and tare. I also requre you to whatch http://youtube.com/watch?v=ho3ljjSd7G8
before you go. It is a video about how to drive in Iceland and also that you go and read http://www.us.is/page/english

and alot of my Couch surfers do the ring road in seven days and say that is enough time, they take turns driving keep a good tempo when they are driving but have time to stop in different places and get to know people when they sleep at night

To see glaciers you can travel to Jökulárlón
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jökulsárlón

Q: Is there a way to travel to the UK or Sweden by boat for relatively cheap?

A: To get to Iceland by air http://www.flysas.com/Default.aspx?vst=true&epslanguage=EN
http://www.icelandexpress.com/ http://www.icelandair.com/

And if you still really want to take a boat so you can bring your car or some other reason then it is Line/Norræna Stangarhyl 1 110 Reykjavík +354 570 8600 www.smyril-line.is

Q: What kind of night life do you have there?

A: Well this is what Tarantino says about the partylife

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PtPTBRVcGhw
An Icelandic party in a way ;-) The band Jeff who? - Song Barfly

Bókabúð Steinars Bergstaðastræti 7 101 Reykjavík 551 2030 is a bookstore next to Skólavörustígur and it has a lot of travel books, art books, auto biographies...just good books. I just want to point that out because I like supporting the little guy, fight the power. hehe ;-)

And since I am a volunteer for the Red Cross I also would like to point out the Rauða kross búðin - verslun með notuð föt Laugavegi 12b 101 Reykjavík central@redcross.is www.redcross.is 551 1414. Not all of the cloths are cool but they do have the classic Icelandic sweeter and all the profits go to the Red Cross ;-)

And yes the clothing store Herrafataverslun Kormáks og Skjaldar is on Laugavegur, it is in the place where Bónus foodstore is (and though I'm not suporting one store over another Bónus is the cheepest place to buy food...most of the time...just not that big of a selection but how cares) It is in Kjörgarði Laugavegi 59 101 Reykjavík 511 1817

If I hear that you go into Skífan then I will not talk to you again (well maybe I will since I have bought stuff there also from time to time...but still, it is a no no ;-)The place that has what is concidered the cool music is Smekkleysa rocords Plötubúð Laugavegi 28, 101 Rey 534 3730 wwww.smekkleysa.net

Events in Iceland

October = Iceland Airwaves - all the details here
www.icelandairwaves.com/

http://grapevine.is/Home/ is a page with info about what is happening in Iceland

My courch surfers that have done it have all loved kayaking with the adventure tours and some even say that is was the most for there moneys worth.

the 17th is the national day so there will be celebrations and events and concerts everywhere, but especially in the Capital.

TAX-Free

Give yourself some time at the airport because it takes some time to get this done. Most of my couch surfers of mine find it easy.

Info here: www.airport.is/english/menu/before_departure/VAT_refund/
