Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's a little known fact, but I co-invented couch surfing.

Not CouchSurfing.com, but couch surfing.

It's true. My friends have the indented cushions to prove it, :).

Beyond that I have an odd niche in the CS community: more than once I've come across a traveling CSer who was in duress, or at some kind of crossroads in life --- we've spent time together. From what I've heard it's helped ------

Interests

It would be easier to list what I'm not interested in:

Bad Food!

As humans, we can be kind (or not), creative (or not), curious (or not), interesting (or not). I'm interested in what good people together can grow in the world when we share those former-mentioned qualities (while avoiding the "nots".)

Music, Movies, and Books

One of the terrible beauties of our time is that we can fill our years end to end with encounters and re-encounters with masterpieces in all these genres. We will reach the end of our strings before we exhaust this trove --------

(And we should all add to it in at least some small way ----- )

Teach, Learn, Share

I think there is beauty in people sharing who they really are (we have enough on-line videos "teaching" us subjects in 18 mins or less, don't we?) We need more time spent in the casual-intense expression of our humanity.

That said, with most non-Asians I can share a lot about Asia; and in Asia I can share a lot about the West. (I think we need the best of both.)

(And I look forward to encountering the particular genius of all parts of the world in the future ----- )

At the moment (by which I mean now and in recent years) I'm pretty deep in a big project.... I'll mention it if I contact you. Of course you don't have to be interested in it. But if you are, I'm one of a handful of people in the world right now who can share it with you ------------
