About Me

Half-Austrian, half-French computer scientist, linguist and psychologist with a passion for languages. There are so many interesting things, places and people on this earth, I would study and travel my whole life but after having started to work I'd say learning new things through work is pretty nice too :)I like the sound of airplanes leaving the city. It reminds me of traveling and faraway places.I don't smoke but I have no problems with smokers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just love getting to experience the real country when staying at somebody's place and I love having the world in my living room when hosting people.

I've been pretty active in the last years. Here for the statistics:
Hosted 84 people and surfed 63 couches - 6 times reciprocative [Salzburg, Toronto, Prague, Luxembourg, Petersburg, Taibei] (January 2013)

Interests

* Language learning - because the human brain is not built to just think in one language
* Diving - one of my dreams would be to make it to instructor level
* Geocaching and hiking in general - my GPS always travels with me
* Martial arts - especially Capoeira, I also started with Wing Chun, I'm dangerous if I want to :)
* Karaoke - my speciality is girlie pop ;)
* Climbing - I'll probably stay a bloody beginner for the rest of my life, but it's fun anyway
* Canyoning and Rafting - didn't do much of both, but really enjoyed it when I did it!
* Dancing - Salsa is my favourite, I also did a bit of tap dancing
* Yoga - from time to time
* the usual stuff - reading, watching movies, listening to music...

Music, Movies, and Books

It doesn't matter in which language - I have a bad taste for music. I always fall for those way too commercial tunes.
I don't read so many books anymore, you can learn a lot from the web these days.
I try to watch all kinds of legendary cult movies and interesting alternative movies, but most of the time I forget about them as fast as I've watched them.
I love Chinese serials, especially Wuxia from Jin Yong

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done rafting and canyoning in the spanish pyrenees which was pretty amazing, I've seen where the oceans meet in Tarifa, I've searched treasures on the ape rock of Gibraltar, have seen ancient arab palaces in the south of Spain, eaten good portuguese Francesinha in Porto, have done yoga on top of a lost pirate tower watching over Atlantis in a lesser known area of Ibiza, ran through a drug parade in front of the coloseum in Rome (not participating), I have roped down from a 20 meter high bridge in Bochum, Germany and have lived for 5 months in the awesome city of Barcelona.

I have seen the beautiful north-east of North America as well as the beautiful north-east of South America. I have seen the ground of the ocean there, explored some long sunk ships and met some very interesting deep sea creatures. I have also experienced the neverending party of the carnaval in Rio de Janeiro. I have seen the treasures of the Red Sea while diving it and enjoyed awesome train trips through Russia, Ukraine as well as China.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to cook bought pasta with ready made tomato sauce in no time!
Seriously though, I love showing people my city and telling all the stories behind it. I'm also always open for language exchanges and sharing my computer knowledge.
