About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see and understand while making the best of each day

ABOUT ME

I (and my lovely wife) are happily married working professions, but heart we consider ourselves full-time wanderers. As a result, Jon (an ESL teacher) just moved to Mexico City to further both pursuits. In any case, whether in our own city or abroad, we are happy go-lucky people who love meeting new people and although we're notoriously talkative, we like being in the silent company of others. We like being near similar and familiar minds; we feel relaxed and appreciative, and drunk with affection.
Most of the time, though, we try not to take things too seriously - it makes everything a lot more interesting.

PHILOSOPHY

That having been said, this is the quote I live by:
€"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We believe wholeheartedly in the Couchsurfing mission. When we aren't hosting, we're offering suggestions for incoming travelers or trying to sell the uninitiated on the idea.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've surfed and hosted, both separately and together, and some notable experiences include Jenny's extensive surfing in Europe (2007) and Jon's round the clock hosting in South Korea (2009).

Interests

Helping people, community interdependence, languages, foreign cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Essentials
Movies: The Royal Tenenbaums and The West Wing
Music: Indie rock and Latin music
Books: Non-fiction and world fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing we have ever seen is the kindness and generosity of people the world over. We have been the recipient of such enormous goodwill in our travels that is truly breathtaking. With and without Couchsurfing, we have been adopted by Bedouins, Mexicans, El Salvadorans, Indians, Colombians, Koreans, and more.

Teach, Learn, Share

Jon teaches English, cooks, and can help with basic web design. Jenny can dance salsa, offer tips on SEO, and make you laugh.
