About Me

ABOUT ME

French Londoner.

I have been travelling few times, lived in few places (France, Italy, Madagascar, Vietnam, Chicago) to study, work or do volunteer projects but London has been home for the past 8 years. Which means every roads lead to London in my case.
I have a Fashion/Textile design background but now work in social care, as a Chef in a day centre where we take care of adults with learning disabilities. It's not really the glamorous fashion world but it's as creative and some would say a slightly more rewarding.
I come from a culturally mixed background, French and North African, grew up surrounded by women. In a very colourful environment. It surely made me very respectful and curious about other people's cultures. And outgoing, and sociable, and chatty...

I also play rugby regularly with my local team. Great fun. Who would have thought some guy could design evening gowns on school days and get muddy on weekends?
Well, nowadays it's more about cooking and baking.

PHILOSOPHY

Acceptance and education are the keys.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meet. Share. Reward.
Meeting people, getting along, enjoying company.
Sharing stories, ideas, tips, concepts, etc.
Rewards coming from fulfilling experiences.

I've hosted when I could. Unfortunately in recent years, my busy schedule and flat share in London doesn't always allow me to host people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Without Couchsurfing, a lot of my trips wouldn't have been so exciting. It made most of my travels amazing experiences and I am very happy I have been able to share so much with so many different people.
And it goes the same way when I have been able to host.

As a CS fan, I am hoping once again to do it all over again and meet a lot of new people all around the different countries I visit.
I am convinced nothing beats the locals and their knowledge when it comes to give you the best of the place you're visiting.

Interests

I do like movies, have an unlimited cinema card back home, i just have a terrible memory for titles or actors' names.
I like to think I'm nerdy about fashion, but that's only cause I am more interested in its history and its social impact than what the latest overrated pop star is wearing.

I'm a MASSIVE food lover. If there's one thing I really get serious about is my food. And cooking. It's an addiction. My biggest achievement? Impressing my Mum in the kitchen. She keeps asking from my recipe of Green Harissa!

Music, Movies, and Books

Everything from African-American music to Classical music and World Music. I do love soul and r'n'b. But enjoy pop and a wide variety of styles.
Especially from the 90's. Ahhhh Nostalgia.
Some example: Diana Ross, Jazmine Sullivan, Solange knowles and the Hadley st Dreams
Raphael Saadiq, Erykah Badu, Chrisette Michele, Michael Jackson, Angie Stone, Joy Denalane...
New soul, jazz, funk and everything related.

My movie tastes is quite broad as well.
Horror movies would be my first choice, then Sci-fi and Kung-fu movies. (I told you it was broad)
Recently re-fell in love with French cinema. With movies like Populaire and Untouchables.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending six months in Madagascar sharing embroidery technics with the nicest group of women I have ever learned from.

Helping local teachers in a primary school in Hanoï teaching French to a hundred of kids. (having yourself surrounded by dozens of kids everyday screaming your name was uplifting!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, since I'll be travelling around, you can teach me how to surf your couch. Hehe.
In return, I can show you how to cook a thing or two. Or how to do the moonwalk. (randomly)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Great stories about cakes! I'm a cake geek. I know it's strange, but my bedtime books are mostly Cuisine related. So I guess we can say I can share cooking skills.
But much more, I can share stories and some good company.
