ABOUT ME

I recently came across a report card from 5th grade. Comments from my foreign language teacher: "She is an enthusiastic learner. She shows a high degree of skill and interest in languages and cultures." This nearly brought a tear to my eye. This would explain why I am on this site today. ;)

FOOD AND DRINK. I live off of rice, beans, onions, cheese, and eggs. Oh, and salt. :D I like my tea without milk or sugar. I prefer green tea for its antioxidants. I also like blueberries, dark chocolate(!!), and tart cherry juice for its antioxidants. I love girl scout thin mints cookies. B-dubs' (aka buffalo wild wings) potato wedges are the best.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first hosting and surfing experiences were in the US. I first hosted in the fall of 2007; I started surfing in the spring of 2008 for mini cycle tour trips in the midwest and Virginia. I also cycled through England, the Netherlands, and Belgium, surfing along the way. Aside from the US and Europe, I've hosted/surfed/met couchsurfers in South/Southeast/East Asia and the Middle East. I can't imagine what traveling (and consequently my life) would have been like without couchsurfing!!!

One thing I love about couchsurfing is that I have found it to be a small CS world. Here's one of my favorite "small CS world" experiences.

One fine day someone had made a group post asking people to send postcards to CS headquarters. Well, I never get snail mail (how sad), so I decided to post my address, also asking for postcards. I didn't actually expect anyone to send me anything, but one can hope. Well, many weeks later, I go to my mailbox to unexpectedly find a postcard! I wondered who it could possibly be from, and it was from a couchsurfer in India who had seen my post! I was truly excited to have received a piece of mail, especially because it came as such a surprise. (Of course I sent one back.) Well, fast forward to many months later, it turns out I was going to be passing through his city to attend a wedding of friends I had met in South Korea. I remembered his postcard and decided to send him a message. Well oh my goodness, not only did he accept my couch request, he was going to be attending the very wedding I was! I tell ya, I was very excited- I was going to know someone at the wedding besides the bride and groom and the friend I was bringing along. Not only that, I was in touch with another host, and he was also going to be attending the same wedding! And well, it turned out to be a weekend full of excitement with wedding (and other) festivities! Made possible in part by couchsurfing! ;)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
