About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find couches in Cuba! Spread love!

ABOUT ME

I hate these "about you" descriptions! But I will try and give you an idea of what I am about. I love to travel, I feel seeing the world and meeting new people, cultures and languages helps shape me as a person. I love to share, I think sharing is probably the best thing ever; food, couches, time, memories, languages, and most importantly, love. If more people shared the world would be a better place, of that I am sure. I can be a very direct person, I'm very honest, almost to a fault. I may seem extroverted at first, but really I am quite the opposite. In large social gatherings I tend be more extrovert. I think simply and act accordingly, I don't like drama, complications or over reactions (unless humorous). I think that most people are inherently good, but I can be a very skeptical person. I guess you'll just have to meet me?

PHILOSOPHY

Still figuring out my own philosophies, but these guide me well:

"Live life everyday like it's your last"

"El viaje de descrubimiento no es para cambiar sus alrededores, si no para cambiar como se ve sus alrededores"

"La vida es como la espuma, por eso hay que ser como el mar"

"What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger"

"Sleep is for when you're dead!" :)

"The more you learn about a man's language, the further you can move in his society."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met tons of CouchSurfers so far, we're an awesome organized group of people. I try to host as much as possible and when I'm traveling it's the best way to explore a region or city!I also goto local weekly meetups regularly and try and plan CS events every once in a while. I like being part of the CS PDX Community, we're a great group of people here; I like to introduce my guests with other CSers in the area. Sooo happy to be a part of this organization!

Interests

I am huge futbol (soccer) fan and the biggest Aston Villa supporter this side of the Atlantic. I love to play futbol as much as I love to watch it (alot!!), I'm on a couple indoor teams and I play pick up games weekly outdoors. Other outdoor activities that I like are tennis, snowboarding, bikeriding, hiking, camping, and disc golf. I also love foreign language films, Spanish, French and Portuguese are my favorites. If you have a recommendation, please share! Other interests of mine include: meeting new people, site seeing, swimming, eating new foods, smiling, playing pool, hiking, sunsets, French, Portuguese, Spanish, (all languages really), vegetables, and fruit. />Jumping up and down and screaming after an Aston Villa goal is a big interest as well. The same can be said for a Timbers or Barcelona goal!

Music, Movies, and Books

Alot of different stuff.
Authors: George Orwell, Paulo Coelho, Steinbeck, CS Lewis, and others that I've only read a book each, etc.

Music: Regeton, College Rock, Hiphop, Rap, Rock n Roll, Oldies, some Jazz, anything really, depending on my mood and the ambience.

Movies: Pulp Fiction, Requiem for a Dream, Dos Filhos de Francisco, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Secuestro Express, Diarios de Motocicleta. Basically, movies that are profound and meaningful. If not profound and meaningful, then hopefully it's a movie that makes you smile and laugh.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking in the Swiss Alps next to the Matterhorn with my father. Snorkeling with my sister in Venezuela. Spearfishing in Panama and Costa Rica. Scuba diving in the Red Sea, going on safaris in Tanzania and being part of the first African World Cup.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak Spanish and English fluently. Trying to learn French, would absolutely LOVE some native French speakers to help me out! I can help with Spanish and English, I've taught English before, mostly conversational.
