About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to take over the world...and give out free chocolate to everyone

ABOUT ME

Hm...A Swedish-Persian Londoner who loves collecting stories. So I figured the best way to collect stories is to do things!
Grew up in Sweden and came to London when I was 19 for a week's holiday. That was in 2001.
Guess I fell in love with the dirty roads, the expensive rents, the over crowded subways, the dodgy falafels at 3am after a night out... :o)
Since then I have spent 7 months living in the woods in Scotland, learned (and sadly failed) to play the guitar, made some friends, lost some friends, found my favourite vegetarian restaurant, worked as a perfume seller for a day before I literally ran out never to return again, gained a couple of diplomas, a degree, learned how to dance like nobody is watching (though the following morning I always seem to remember a crowd) and got a bit closer to finding out what I want to do when I grow up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I remember sitting in the kitchen in my parent's house, waiting for my mum to bring out the chicken, cooked the only way your mother knows how to...was about to throw this magazine in to the recycling box when I saw an article about a woman who travelled for a year only via CS. I was so intrigued I signed up straight away...even came to the dinner table 10 min after my mum had served to food. Something that does not happen often!
Although I have not travelled the world (yet) I have had some of the most amazing experiences...just by joining. One thing I love about CS is that I get to be a tourist in my own city. I get to experience London through the eyes of people visiting, making it fresh every time... making me realise that this is a pretty amazing city to live in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The only way I can explain it is that I am smiling while writing this and thinking of the people I have met through CS...

Interests

Ah...where to begin. LOVE anything that makes me smile. And what I love even more is to make others smile. Not always so successful but hey...a girl's gotta try! =) Work as a paediatric physiotherapist so my work life involves a lot of balloons, jumping in ball pools and blowing bubbles. When I'm not covered in toys, I'm making plans to take over the world...just don't tell my boss! What else...love cooking chocolate, making a fool of myself on the dance floor, Curzon Cinema in Soho, walking around finding little gems, photography, my slightly insane friends, music, chocolate, lazy sunny afternoons in Regent's Park, daydreaming of all the travels to come...did i mention chocolate? =)

Music, Movies, and Books

You know when you have one of those days...when you have lost your job, your cat's gone missing, your wallet stolen and to top it all off, the milk has gone off and the shop has closed...all you want to do is to hide under your duvet never to see the world again. Then you put Frank Sinatra on and somehow things just don't seem so black anymore. They don't make music like that anymore...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- A 6 six old boy telling the biggest man I have ever seen not to kill spiders on a beach in Thailand...and the man looking genuinely scared. The boy then went back to building a sand castle...
- Going back to Iran for the first time in 20 years and climing the mountain in northern Tehran with three old (and very wise) men listening to their stories from the revolution and the war. A climb they do every week without fail. One of the most memorable days of my life.
- Spending a day in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa, feeling the salt water spray my face.
- Sitting in a small park in East Village, NY, and eating probably the best bagel ever made by humans (and I have tried a lot of them)
- Dancing to live jazz music in a tiny village, middle of nowhere, 4 hours drive from Salvador, Brazil and sipping on home made Caipirinha... the "bar tools" we had to use would have made McGyver very proud. :o)
- learning how to cook traditional food and celebrating Eid with a family in Palestine who made me feel like just like home
