About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My new mission is to just go...

ABOUT ME

I like to travel. I love the scenery and I love the people. I like getting to know people and what makes them tick. I especially enjoy learning about other cultures and countries; but wonderfully, I have discovered that here in the USA there is this most amazing hodge podge of cultures. I have rarely met anyone who thrives on people like I do, thus I will make this short... but if you are one of those people, ask me. I am an open book, the most honest person I know :)

PHILOSOPHY

Live, love and laugh. I think people get trapped into the "norm" of their society. It makes me crazy that I meet so many unhappy people when I think they could easily be happy if they just followed their gut instead of their brain and what they "think" they should be doing. And yet I do find myself obsessing about the same things. Being carefree, a free spirit, a traveler, one's "own" person is hard work. For those who do it... wow. And to some extent we all do it... so for those who don't do it as much as they'd like... no judgements dude, we do what we do. Lol, there is so much that could go in this space...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Update: The US tour landed me in Sedona AZ for about 8 months and then to Phoenix where I am completing a master's degree in social work. After that I will most likely not use it and go back to Sedona to live off the land out in the desert. For now, I have a couch:)

Currently I am on a US tour and kind of interested in meeting and possibly staying with people. But mostly I am interested in correspondence with other travelers. When/if I am ever settled I will completely be into this as someone who gives up my couch any and every chance I get.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Technically none through this site. But I have traveled overseas and many of the people I have met have provided me with couches on my US tour. I most enjoy people who do not dote on me and recognize that I really don't care that much about sleeping situation, kinds of food, or what we do. I just enjoy the company of good people and go with the flow.

Interests

I am interested (if you don't already know..um...) in people, cultures, how people live, work, play, think, react, and just be. It fascinates me. In addition, I love nature but am less knowledgable about nature than I'd like to be. I love all activites having to do with natural bodies of water. I like reading almost anything and the same for movies. I like them and watch anything, crap or not. I am interested in politics, science, history, and life. I am interested in the world :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes, yes, and yes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in the Federated States of Micronesia and I was on a 20 foot boat crossing open ocean on a 6 hour trip. I was with four other Micronesian men who were guiding and driving the boat. We saw a traditional micronesian sailing canoe out in the water so we went over. The canoe was huge and it was made completely of resources from an island, nothing bought and paid for. There were men standing inside of it and the edge came up to their chest. There were also men sitting on the sail and they were all just hanging out like islanders do. We went over, and as tradition goes, we gave them cigerettes, asked them where they were going, wished them god speed and went on our way. I regret I did not have a camera to get them on film out there in the middle of the ocean with no electronic devices just traditonally navigating based on nature to their destination of some random island less than 2 sqare miles in size. It was amazing to comtemplate and the sight of them was also amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Listen to your gut or your heart... turn your brain off.
Every human on earth is a person, treat them as such regardless of your own personal stereotypes (which we all have; whether we want to or not).
Huge lesson for me... I went overseas expecting my open-mindedness to be an asset (which it may be) but in my open-mindedness I expected others around me to also be open-minded. In some cultures this is not an asset (its even questionable if it is in the US) and I completely was oblivious to this... I would tell anyone to remember it.

Something I'd like to learn-how to think less :) Lol, I would love to be more outgoing and carefree. Unfortunately, my love of people and analyzing them makes me also analyze myself and how others might see me when in reality I think most people don't analyze others like I do. I would like to learn how to not think, worry, or dwell on how I might come off to others.
