About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Challenge Accepted...

ABOUT ME

I'm the kind of girl who will quit her job just to hit up Wimbledon, the Tour de France, Pamplona and the British Open in a one-month span. I have a list of things to do while I live and I intend to do everything on that list. I find it ridiculous the amount of money I've spent on sporting events and books. Then I realize, they were all worth the price of admission and I really like my library.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to tear off all your logic and make passionate sense to you.

The World is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be only the beginning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

With me it's a guaranteed adventure. I love this concept of random people hosting their couches for random people to crash on. I know it helps on the wallet, but it's the best way to really experience whatever city you're in. I hate being the typical tourist. I travel alone a lot and my usual routine when I get in a city is to hop on a bus, subway, etc. and just get off at a random spot and start walking around and absorbing my surroundings. I want to see what the locals live in, not what the tourists do. I lived in Washington, DC for 4 years, so I know what it's like to live someplace touristy and I always made sure my friends saw more than the National Mall.

I want culture, not the same picture as everyone else.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed for the first time in September/October '09 in Switzerland and Germany. I had a great experience with it and added a greater understanding for the trust of others. I was able to meet some pretty cool and nice people in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup!! I surfed a couple times during my year in Australia, a couple times again in Europe, and some in New Zealand as well.

I don't surf as much I would like when I travel, because I rarely plan far enough in advance to find a host...

Music, Movies, and Books

My current reading list includes: Whatever my professors assign. A lot of historical fiction, literary fiction, non-fiction. I'm not a SyFy person. I'll watch any movie. I'm one of the few people in the World who has never watched a single Star Wars movie. I don't really watch anything in Prime Time. I liked This is Us, Law & Order SVU, Seinfeld, Friends, Dexter, etc. I'm big on alternative, punk, oldies, reliving the 90's and rediscovering the 80's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've sat on a empty beach at night and watched the waves drift in. I've stepped through tons of porcupine crap just to explore an old John Dillinger hangout. I've camped out for football tickets for a team that had no chance of a winning season. I've spent a night drinking at a wedding reception just to leave at 3 am to catch a flight at 6 so I could see the Milwaukee Brewers in the playoffs for the first time in 26 years. I let Tiger Woods know that he's Tiger Woods.(He apparently already knew that.) I ran with the bulls. I eat cheese curds while drinking Spotted Cow. I spent a night sleeping under a carnival ride. I once sold every single piece of furniture I owned on craigslist, right down to the fake potted plants. My only regret in life is that I once bought a Hillary Duff CD. I queued at Wimbledon. My body was physically in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado all at the same time. I'll try anything once, but I won't make the same mistake twice. Seeing the annex that Anne Frank lived in is the most soul-searching experience I've had. I live my life as I want to live.

Yet, I can't disapparate.

Teach, Learn, Share

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.~Frederick Douglass

I'm a horrible teacher, which is odd, b/c I've worked as a tutor for a few years. I can never explain the short cuts.

I love to learn and absorb as much as I can through osmosis.

I always have a square to spare...
