ABOUT ME

-Couchsurfing has been part of my life since its beginnings in 2005, and I was a member of V.1 and watched the team put it together when I broke and everything had to be reinstalled. That is why I have a "Pioneer" badge. -I hosted events, and had surfers in at least three different countries, and had the honour to be hosted a few times too. They were all treasured, wonderful experiences, that made my life richer.
-I have now a joint profile with Tarver, my common-law husband.. He is a philosopher and absolutely passionate about "Consciousness", a member of the Mankind project, a coach, facilitator and mindfulness meditation teacher. You will like him :). Fun fact: he builds traction Trebuchets!
-We are both extroverts, and Rangers at Burning Man (we go every year, and camp with Anonymous Village -a "Clean and Sober Camp".
-My long term plans are to become a totally obnoxious, eccentric old lady that wears non-coordinated neon colors, and feather boas,. I am already dying my hair purple to start with this. I will get some tattoos eventually...
-Why am I called "SinfulWays"? Because my daughter embraced a very strict brand of Christianity (jokingly I call her "the black sheep" of our agnostic family), and she recommended me to mend my sinful ways... I won't. Thank you very much. I always say, like that famous author that: "For an Atheist, I am a very good Christian". My values include more ethics, love, and care than those of many of supposedly "Holy". Besides, I am a "pastafarian", a believer in the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) blessed be his noodly appendage. For more info about his holy noodliness, see here: www.venganza.org Ramen.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was an Ambassador for years! Country Ambassador to Canada, etc. etc. Now that I hav e room to host again, I hope I can really have an active role promoting the project. I love welcoming people, helping in any way I can, organizing events, (specially those related to languages), but also hopefully convincing the locals that it is such a rewarding idea to share your home, and your town with the people that visit... and becoming a generous and loving host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a pioneer, I was a member of CS I. I started with CS in 2005. I was a host in Vienna as well with my then husband, Thomas -note that he is one of my friends- but by then, I still had children at home and it wasn't so easy to organize schedules. Now three of my children are also part of CouchSurfing! (and they left me good references! :D)

Interests

MARIA: Improv (my GREAT love), Burning Man, Theatre, Cooking, Museums, Art, Traveling (obviously), Multiculturality, Religions (Atheism, Pastafarians), Music (love concerts of small blues and jazz groups, Opera, Bossa Nova, Ballet, very eclectic tastes!), Soccer, Singing (no fears: i will spare you). Movies. Siamese and Oriental Cats, although currently, due to the traveling, I cannot have any!Professional

My training in psychotherapy includes: Gestalt therapy, Enneagram, Sexologist(trained both in Austria, and in Uruguay). My interests are varied, but lately I am focusing very much on Claudio Naranjo's Enneagram. Other interests include: Transactional Analysis, Systemic Therapies, and Salutogenesis. My post-degree training and doctorate were in Gestalt, Sexual Counselling , and Social Psychology. We are members of HAI (The Human Awareness Institute), and active in the Burning Man Community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

MARIA:
Not everyone's destiny in life is to do amazing things by climbing mountains or visiting exotic sites. My path was simple but rewarding. I had left this space blank but one day i realized: "hey! I have a PhD, and raised 6 kids working full time in a foreign country where I arrived almost without speaking the language...Doesn't that count as something pretty "amazing" too?". So I decided to write just *that*. And now, life gave me an extra gift... in the form of a new child!! So I have 7 kids. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you stay with us, we will offer you a comfortable place to sleep. A serene environment Cowith few noises, and distractions.. a place to relax after a long trip. If I am around I may make breakfast, including waffles or pancakes with lots of fruit from the farms nearby. We always offer coffee and delicious teas.
