About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Back in Poland after 7 years of living in different countries. Adapting to living in Warsaw.

ABOUT ME

Trying to enjoy being part of the "lost generation" - young, well-educated people who are unable to have a flat, decent living or any hope for the future. I think I am quite good at that.

Vegetarian, but I don't care about your food preferences, you can eat as much meat as you want when I am around and won't hear a word from me about it ;)

PHILOSOPHY

Am I to blame for being a Romantic and a dreamer in a
life that is all materialism and stupidity? Am I to
blame for having a heart, and for having been born
among people interested only in comfort and in money?
What stigma has passion placed on my brow? I would
like to pass by sighing, and not have anyone even
notice me. For when others look at me with their
superior smiles, their glances sully me. For my heart
and my spirit are very high, and my eyes flee from
theirs to contemplate the water, the clouds, or to
look into my own heart.

(I am not that brilliant, that's Lorca words, brought to me by Leonard Cohen).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Met a lot of interesting people through it, sure I'll meet more. Helped a few people in Cracow, was helped by many around the world. Whenever I can, I go to CS meetings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am also a member of Hospitality Club. Started to use HC over eight years ago, CS came a bit later, currently addicted to this way of travelling. Hosted a few people in Cracow, was helped by many other abroad. The best experience: being hosted by a perfect stranger in Shiraz, Iran. If you want to send me a request, please include the word 'jenot' in it, so I know it's not some generic spam request.

Interests

I love to spend time in cinema, the best way to escape the reality. Books and music all the time, can't live without them. I love to write, working on improving it. Oh, yeah, the most important: chardonnay! But I do love wine in general. I enjoy football and cycling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left my job in "Fight Club" style.
Spent six months unloading lorries in Ireland to be able to go to Asia. Spent 96 days there on my own.
Went from Lebanon to Iran, spent one month there and came back the whole way to Poland.
Managed to get a column (with my own photo :)) in a newspaper.
Managed to survive one month in India on my own (of course with help of CS)
Visited Bang;adesh, and fell in love with the people there.
Got bit tired with Europe, but used to love it, still loving Croatia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you a lecture about Canadian cinema, but you'd probably fall asleep, so maybe it's better if I just go and bring some good wine.
I know a few things about history of the world (Khmer Rouge times in Cambodia being my passion for some time), but not sure if you'd be impressed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Our apartment, what we happen to have in the fridge, if time allows, a beer or two. It's rather difficult for us to host people during the week as we both work rather crazy schedules. Friday to Monday is usually fine.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, China, Germany, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Russian Federation, South Korea, Syrian Arab Republic, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine

Countries I’ve Lived In
