Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To actually have enough time to meet all the people coming through Quito that contact me!

ABOUT ME

I have been on a mission to explore and find the places on Earth that make you remember how fond you are of living... I've been fortunate to find some in the U.S. and now I am setting my sights toward the rest of the world. I am currently tending bar at a great spot in Quito where I have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know others who work here as guides, teachers, and hostel owners. I also meet travelers, students, and the odd person who just sort of ended up here. I have created a group called Ask Finn´s to spread this collective knowledge of Ecuador and Quito to those looking for a great experience here!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is amazing. Period. Live it, Love it, write about it, dance for it, and always give it your best. Things happen and then you realize that it might have been different if you were actually paying attention.

And then there is the list.. Languages, countries, dances, people to meet, people to find, people to love..

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been living and working in Quito for almost two years. I started volunteering at The Secret Garden in Old Town and also worked at a well travelled Irish bar called Finn McCools that was started by a woman from Belfast. Through these experiences I have made countless friends that I keep in touch with even after they have made there way to other parts of the world. I have made it a priority to get them in touch with each other when they are looking for places to stay, need advise on where to go, or just want a travel buddy to catch up with.

At the moment I am working for a company on the cutting edge of volunteer travel in Ecuador called lead-Adventures. through my contacts who have worked extensively in the field as guides for Greenforce and Dragoman I have discovered that they are at the top of the heap when it comes to co-ordinating volunteer group travel. They started soley as in-country support for school groups and with thier sucess they have branched out to offer programs for independent travellers. I am excited to get people involved with the programs that Lead offers and really enjoy it when people take part in trips such as the three week program to the Galapagos as the participants really have a good time and want to know more about what they can do in the future.

I came to ecuador and volunteered in a program myself after living and working with my best friend whom was in the Peace Corp, worked for the crisis corp, and created programs for children in refugee camps in Africa. I believe that the work that Lead Adventures offers plants a seed in the minds and hearts of those who participate and hope that it grows to get them involved in more service oriented programs in the future.

Other than that, I enjoy daily life in Quito and have travelled a lot in the country. I have made good friends who own hostels and enjoy going to places such as Banos, Otavalo, and Cotopaxi when I´m not busy working behind the bar.

If your traveling to Ecuador and want some advise about where to go or which hostel or tour would be a good option for a backpackers budget, give me a shout and I´ll try and sort you out..

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On a road trip across the country I bumped into a friend at the local small town meeting point.. The gas station. On thing led to another and I ended up living in a huge cabin on his families property for the winter. Never would of happenned if we hadn't met at the conoco that morning
