About Me

CURRENT MISSION

searching for utopia/or at least try to survive in this hellwhole of a world

ABOUT ME

Always on the search for something, looking for that little spark, that can make a difference. Right now, a little lost again. Looking for a sense of direction, instead of this shattered wanting to do it all and nothing at the same time. Looking for the next project, to lend meaning to an otherwise futile existence.

Wow, that came out dark.. Well, I'm not all that pessimistic or cynical. I'm also a naive idealist who believes that people and society could be wonderful if we just had other systems in place, who would bring the good out. I kind of tend to switch between those two sides of me, between hope and despair.

And somehow I try to find my place in it all. I studied gender studies, because I wanted to work with gender pedagogics in preschools - and then I had a small identity crisis, went to Montréal, Canada for a year, and mostly hung out, thought strong and hard about what I wanted to do. Didn't really think of anything, but got radicalized politically. Came home, finished my bachelor's in gender studies, went to New York and wrote my thesis on the Occupy movement. Decided I wanted out of academia, moved to Umeå in the north of Sweden and tried to start up a cultural project about Utopias. Didn't like the place much and abandoned the project, came back to Malmö and went to film school instead, for three years. And now I just finished, so I guess I'm going through that graduation crisis - what to do my life now again-kind of thing. Thinking of moving to Berlin, or some other place, because I'm bored with Sweden.

PHILOSOPHY

how to embrace the craziness of the world without getting lost in it, that is the real art of living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host people once in a while, I like the idea of exchange between people, outside of the monetary system. of hospitality, and mutual aid.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have surfed myself here and there, and received a couple of surfers. It's mostly been a fun experience, or sometimes boring, but never bad. However, I appreciate it if you put some effort in to writing your request - Please specify why you want to surf MY couch specifically, and don't just assume that I will accept you on the sole purpose because "you are open-minded and like to meet new people". Come on, you can do better than that. AND PLEASE - CS is NOT a DATING SITE. Don't misuse it as one.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything written by Charlie Kaufman. Michel Gondry movies. Weird surrealist sci fi. Stop motion animations.

Documentaries: Inside job. Let's make money. Pyramids of Waste. Garbage warriors. Living utopia. The forbidden education.

Series: Mr Robot. Orange is the new black. Better Call Saul. Masters of Sex. Stranger Things. Six feet under. Weeds. Fringe.

Music: I listen mostly to ambient dreamy electronic stuff, with a dance beat or not. But also to some folk, indie, pop etc. Or whatever Spotify suggest to me on my Discover Weekly. Heh. It's amazing how good it is, usually..

Books: I'm embarrassed at how bad I am at reading books lately. But yeah, I guess I'll have to stick with this really old list of stuff I have liked in the past...

Haruki Murakami. Kurt Vonnegut. George Orwell. Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. The Impressionist by Hari Kunzru. The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts by Louis de Bernières.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Fusion festival is probably the best thing I know. It made me discover that I'm definitely a raver. And I love all the DIY arts there. Makes me want to build stuff.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wanna learn german. I tried that Duo lingo app, and know some basics, but I need to talk to people cause it's way more efficient.
And I wanna learn more about anarchism and ways of better and more efficient radical organization.
