About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cultivate more friendships, keep my mind expanded, and really live every moment.

ABOUT ME

I am a glorious work in progress like anyone else. I grew up in a multiethnic family (Canadian/Colombian) and have lived or travelled about 25 different countries up til now, where I've learnt that people are the spice of life, that I love watching nature (especially underwater), and I believe that technology can help solve human problems. Community is something I crave, but I often feel closest with travellers or immigrants (like me?). I don't know where I'll end up living more permanently, but I sure hope it has some ocean nearby.

PHILOSOPHY

Buddhist logic, Catholic culture, and biological research (listening to and working with nature).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to meet cool, optimistic people and perpetuate trust and sharing. I have hosted thrice in London, once in Guelph, Couchcrashed in Cleveland, met up once in Acapulco, and surfed a couple times in the USA and Mexico. Hope I can host more in the future and have more meetups - London, Ontario's Couchsurfers rule!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only really formally couch surfed twice, in Guadalajara, Mexico and Gainsville, Florida. Mack Creel in Florida was a great host, and it was so cool to arrive somewhere with a friend already there and waiting, and eager to help this fellow human have fun and explore a place never before visited. Hope to do it again real soon.

Interests

learning bad words in other languages, talking philosophy, drinking coffee, SCUBA/snorkelling, making capoiera movements when dancing or walking, SCRABBLE, waxing biotechnological, interpreting sybolic art, drinking beers (and sometimes doing kegstands), tree climbing, hide and seek in the park, long walks on the beach after exhausting swimming and body surfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

SCUBA diving with sea lions near Vancouver was up there. Humans take nature for granted because we are always in control, but that feeling evaporates underwater surrounded by 1000 pound underwater carnivores.

Sitting on my surfboard waiting for a wave, next to my little brother in Saquaremma, Brazil, while the sun went blazing down in a dramatic red sunset behind the church on the hill.

I also really loved playing chess by the Roman colloseum for 6 hours with a friend I met in Italian class. Felt like stepping out of time and body.

Teach, Learn, Share

True love is born from understanding. The Buddha says this. A caveat I'd like to share is that you can't understand everything although we'd like to love it all. To understand everything, you have to understand yourself.
