About Me

Airports are one of my favourite places - so many people, so many stories, so much culture under one roof.
I love people-watching, meeting strangers and hearing their stories, where they come from, where they are going and why - I don't really care if I agree in their world view or not, I still learn a lot from meeting people with other opinions than my own.

I used to fly and travel a lot. But I've made some radical decisions over the past years in order to do what I can for the climate. Now I travel primarily within Europe and I've been a pescatarian for almost 3 years now. I absolutely love the nature and we need to take good care of it for future generations!

I have spend a lot of time producing documentaries for Danish national television throughout the last decade and still do - but decided to slow down a bit. Work is not all. And I want to get back to meeting new people - hence coming back to Couchsurfing, that I used a lot when I was younger.

I like to give room for coincidences - often some of our most magic moments appear if we say "yes" to the unexpected instead staying safe and saying no, because it wasn't part of the plan.

I live by the sentence: "Do your best and be kind to people" and hope I can keep a part of my inner child and curiousness till I die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used Couchsurfing many years ago and it gave me a lot of amazing experiences with wonderful people that I would otherwise never have met. Then I got older, more comfortable, spend more time working and I stopped sleeping on couches and booked expensive hotel suites instead. But hotel suites are cold and boring. They certainly don't bring people together and that's what I think we need more of in this world. It's not about saving money. It's about more meetings, conversations, more walks in the woods, culture and perspective.

So now I'm back. A bit older. With new perspectives. Eager to meet new people from all around the world, from all parts of society and ready to host or be hosted. Can't wait to meet ya.

Interests

Being in the mountains with my dog - that's my absolute happy place. Don't have many hobbies due to my time consuming work, but still photography has stuck with me for decades now. Recently I joined a course to learn how to turn clay. I think I may have liked the idea more than my talent turned out to be. Oh well, I tried.

Meeting people and listening to their stories is also an interest that has stuck with me, and is probably a key part of who I am - and what I do a lot in my work when producing documentaries. I absolutely love it. I don't think I've ever met a person I didn't have questions for. However I do have a special preference for people who truly reflect on life, those who don't care what others think of them or dare to live their truth no matter the judgement.

Oh and wine. Laughter. French fries and campfires.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived with sea gypsies (badjaos) in a small houseboat on the Sulu Sea for a week and experienced the boat sinking in the middle of the night, swam to a desert island and waited for the coast guard to find us.

During a period of high conflict I was smuggled past check points and into a refugee camp in Bethlehem, as the only foreigner for months. I climbed through a hole in a fence and was told that the israeli soldiers were ordered to shoot, "but they had made a deal". I was 19. I climbed through the hole. And met the most wonderful people I will never forget.
