Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have hosted and have been hosted, so I believe I am not a rookie here anymore:-)
I joined, because I like the idea of that site very much.
I speak English and some Russian, so I hope my couch will be a friendly stop for everyone, also for people travelling to and from Eastern Europe...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far hosted occasionally but ready for a new experience. In Summer 2008 we did as a whole family a memorable trip to the Balkans being hosted by fantastic CS-ers in Austria and Slovenia.
Participated in establishing of a local CS community in Lodz, Poland (group Boat People City of Lodz)

Interests

Cooking and canoeing.
Lots of fiction, including Japanese writer Haruki Murakami and recently Swedish criminal fiction: especially incredible Stieg Larsson with his "Millenium" Trilogy
History, especially 17th Century, but also WWII
Quite recently: I am on a trip down the Amazon River on a 300 litre aquarium with the beautiful fish called discuses :-) Started another tank with the Malawi biotop inside :-)

Last but not least: three women, prominent personalities in music who I appreciate the most:
Magdalena "Medeah" Stupkiewicz: founder of and lead vocals in Polish gothic rock band Artrosis;
Zemfira Ramazanova: in Russian contemporary music she is the mainstream herself;
Mylene Farmer: French goddess...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Very recently: within four days I saw concerts of two out of three women mentioned above: Medeah and Zemfira...really quite an experience
