About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel in South America for a few months

ABOUT ME

I'm a mild mannered dude with a very simple outlook on life. Like taking it easy during the day and always up for some festive drinking/socializing at night. I've gotten along with nearly everyone I met while traveling, but I am all about meeting new people to test that out some more..

PHILOSOPHY

Make yourself happy and be happy with yourself. Don't seek happiness through others, but share your happiness with them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Started in 2007 in Australia, then Fiji and once in Europe. I hosted some amazing people in the last couple of years in Vancouver. Now I moved to Montreal and attend meetings regularly.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sleeping on couches, floors, decks.. in tents, cars, and vans. My back and neck has taken a true test over the years. Had one of my best cultural experiences through CS travels.

Interests

Cultures and food that aren't western. Bike rides, listening to records, and analog music. Learning new languages (currently trying to revive my long lost French language from immersion). Meeting people in general. Cooking veggie dishes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Motorcycle diaries, City of God, Wate. (Foreign language films). Also some older film noir, Dial M for Murder, etc.

Music is a very interesting topic to me. My tastes have shifted through the years with my environment. Punk/alt. got me through my school years. Had a summer in 2004 where my roommates listened only to hip-hop and I adjusted accordingly. Then a move back across the country to Calgary brought indie/folk. I carried that with my travels across the globe, but would listen to local radio DJ's as much as possible. Another move has brought me closer to electro/indie music. I've learned not to identify myself with one genre, but also think music is important to me that I will want to share with others recent albums I enjoy. I am learning banjo so if you see someone playing a mini banjo in Jeanne Mance park that is probably me. Cello is also my favorite sound from a stringed instrument when mood is right.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got stopped in my tracks in the Daintree Rainforest in Australia by a large Cassowary.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak a strange version of acadian 'style' french. Like to talk philosophy and metaphysics. I am one of those people up for everything and catches on quickly, but really I don't consider myself a master of one particular thing.

Countries I’ve Visited
