About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I have been living in Brazil since November 2011. I worked at an orphanage for the first year and now am trying my hand as the director of our organic farm! I LOVE (can I say it again, LOVE) working there and the community in which I live. I am starting to put my feelers out for the "next step" in my life, approaching it with a sense of curiosity.

PHILOSOPHY

HA! I feel OK leaving this blank...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to get involved in activities once in a while in Rio and am currently only available to surf on the couches of others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While at university, I was only able to host surfers. At other times in my life, I surfed at a commune in Costa Rica, lived for a month on a "couch" of an amazing guy from Krakow and also on a woman's couch in Montenegro - she made us coffee AND tea. :)

I currently live in a community of between 20-50 people in the Mata Atlântica.

Interests

Recent interests: permaculture, chickens, bike riding, reading comfortably in Portuguese (new accomplishment), capoeira.

I like to play outside, visit museums, be still, appreciate others, and (my guilty pleasure) take care of goats!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

:)

I don't watch movies in Brazil...
My saudade is really connecting me to the roots of my country´s music. I get funky, I get blusey and I get jazzed out with all the folkes who share the same land as I.

I have turned into a voracious reader in Brazil. I read anything and everything I can get my hands on.

I would love to share with you the recent best reads and tunes when we chat.

Guilty pleasures: Zeca Pagodinho and Bezerra da Silva

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't want to kill ALL the excitement of hosting me! Let's talk and share more!

Teach, Learn, Share

I will share the contents of my heart, mind and soul with you if the opportunity is right.

OK, and beyond that, I will teach you to crochet, I will talk your head off about edible mushrooms of North America, and will share my living room philosophy.

I am always looking for new things to learn to do with my hands!

*Brazilian skills: Cheese making, reallllll goooood feijão, fermented vegetables and meats, fried...everything, Portugues (obviously), how to serve and love others genuinely, watercoloring ... the finely tuned craft of cow herding with bamboo?

Countries I’ve Visited

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brazil, United States
