About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get to know other lands around the world. To truly connect with other people. To not just be friendly for the sake of being friendly. I want realness from others, and I will do the same. I want to see change as well, and be a part of it.

ABOUT ME

I am based in Salt Lake City, but am hoping to travel regularly all over the world for the next several years. I'll do this by taking one or more trips at a time, and coming back to Salt Lake when I need money.

I am into sustainability, for yourself and for the world. I love Do It Yourself ethics. I'm good at fixing things, usually. I love biking in the street and walking wherever. I don't really like cars. I don't like hierarchies. I like friendly people. I don't like jerks. I like getting food from the trash, or saving food from going to the trash. I don't like living extravagantly.

I work with Food Not Bombs in Salt Lake, which is an international volunteer-run organization that redistributes food from grocery stores, bakeries, (and dumpsters), to those who need it.

I resist consumerism as much as I can.

Resistance to the things I see wrong in the world has become a focal point of my life.

PHILOSOPHY

We can talk about that if we ever meet up.

I can say, however, that having fun is one of the most important things to me. Above working jobs or politics or status, if you're not having fun, why are you living?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I play ambassador to a house called Boing! in Salt Lake City. We are a household/collective of generally like-minded people. Our ideas would be considered "radical" by many, but many are also supportive. We hold many anarchist values and ideas and don't think that's something to be afraid of holding, nor ashamed of.

We hold concerts there, we have a library of books as well as movies and other periodicals almost all dealing with radical subjects, from Women's Liberation, to Anarchism, to International Oppression.

It is also the distribution point for Food Not Bombs in Salt Lake.

The way I guess I participate is that this house is open to anyone, and visitors are welcome.

Like I said, we're a household too. If any one of us weren't friendly or open to the idea of travelers staying there, then that one wouldn't be living at Boing! We try to make ourselves as accessible as possible and accommodating too. That goes specifically for me, since I guess I know me best.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used this site to travel all around Europe with outstanding success. I've done a fair amount of traveling and sleeping for free. Hitchhiking, hopping freight trains, urban camping.
Like I said above, I'm into doing things without money, as well as meeting new people, (especially those who like to do things without money!) Couchsurfing satisfies both of those comforts, so why not be a part of an internet community of people like that?

Music, Movies, and Books

Dead Man, In the Mood For Love, The Royal Tenenbaums,

Catherine Feeny, Spank Rock, Do Make Say Think,

A Language Older Than Words, Lord of the Rings, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

I can appreciate almost anything, even if I don't like it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love cookies, a lot. One time I even hiked to the Pacific Ocean through Olympic National Park. Almost immediately upon arrival, I looked out, and lo, I harkened my eyes to focus on something colorful, floating out in the waves, and within one minute I had pulled a fresh package of cookies out of the sea. It was a good day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach people how to eat for free.
It's simple and rewarding. It always lets me, and other people know that they are helping out the earth and the organisms that live on it.

I know bike mechanics quite well.
I can teach you how to change your oil! I just learned! It's not that hard.
I know good techniques to keeping things clean, even if you're not a very clean person.

I am a very amateur carpenter.

OH OH OH!!! I can teach you basics of guitar, trumpet, and music theory.

Juggling too.

I can try and show you how to cost corporate businesses a lot of time and money.

And I'm down for having all sorts of fun, so if you have a hobby, I'd love to practice it with you.

I love the idea of learning from people too.
