About Me

CURRENT MISSION

PHILOSOPHY

1/ If it's f*cked, fix it. If you can't fix it, f*ck it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host! I enjoy helping tired travelers wind down a little bit, and hear about where they've been and what they've done. I've been to one or two meetings but mostly it's about the hosting otherwise it's just a big omnishamble of hangers on.

I've had a year break to variously travel, study and just take a break. But happy to host in Colombo again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted maybe 200 people from maybe 50 countries in India and Thailand. I've hosted others in my Bungalow on Koh Tao but in less formal ways. I.e. they couldn't find anywhere else to stay! It happens sometimes.

Interests

Sprouting pulses, negotiating upwards, putting torn out sudokus on the fridge, fridges, cynicism, surprises, planning road trips, new car smell, old car smell, stealing wifi, breezes, kintsugi, guessing net worth of upper middle class people, waterproof bags, daydreams that come true, finally getting it, preserves, reserves, modernist design, Kendall's Tau Beta and other non-parametric analyses, petty theft, beta testing 7.4 when 7.3.3 works perfectly well, bubblewrap, Japanese earthenware, stationary cycling, noise canceling headphones, logos but not the machine, Heathcote Shiraz, skin, flexibility, taking the high moral ground, green architecture, freegans, 1973, making gifts (which is different from crafts), fine paper, being creative with leftovers, gadgets, exchanging smiles with people I'll never know but see every day, non sequitur, the Eames era, daydreams that don't come true, risk, slow food, learning, forgeting, fire, avoiding carbon, nuance, nudibranchs, fluro bulbs, tungsten bulbs, salad, g. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once bought a robot vacuum from ebay. It didn't work.
One of my Facebook posts of a picture I found on the internet got 11 'likes'.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach didgeridoo. I tend to be handy in the salad department, though my enthusiasm waxes and wanes. I have a pretty good idea of some off the track things to do and see in Asia. I've hardly lost any divers while showing people around underwater.
