About Me

Currently I live in a sweet little town on the Western Slope of Colorado, some kind of paradise where the mountains meet the desert, the farms and food swirl around art and music, and also where ranchers and coal miners and hunters and nature lovers and hippies and cats and dogs hang out in a very fascinating juxtaposition. Kinda neat! I am an illustrator and ceramicist, and work for a non-profit in the realm of food equity and gleaning.

Eccentric artist Hobart Brown, who started the World Championship Great Arcata To Ferndale Cross Country Kinetic Sculpture Race, once said, "it's about adults having fun so that children desire to grow old." There's a lot of fun still to be had in this world, and celebration is of the utmost importance! Let's eat delicious food, walk up some mountains, make each day lovely, and laugh whenever possible. Also, sometimes "having fun" includes going to bed early like an old lady.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meetin' people and making cool connections and getting and giving the inside scoop!

Interests

Foodstuffs (thinking about, collecting, compiling, crafting, sharing, setting tables). Walking around a lot, especially in the wilds. Noticing the little stuff and making art things about it. Sculpting mylodons and nudibranchs onto mugs at the studio. Picnics. The Grande Aioli. Pseudo-early mornings with coffee and a sketchbook. Funny folks who make me laugh from my toes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived with a Luthier one summer and got to build my own ukulele. So lovely!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you some art tricks and maybe teach you how to bend a note on the harmonica. I can also probably identify something edible growing along the sidewalk within a one block radius of your house.
