About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mmmm...

ABOUT ME

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing
you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and
what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents
were occupied and all before they had me, and all
that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel
like going into it, if you want to know the truth.

J. D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye"

I don't think that I know myself well enough to describe me in a thousand words or less. Who could, by the way?
I change every day without even noticing it, and the person that I was yesterday doesn't seem the same I see today, although I think I've met him before. So, in order to skip all these problems we can do the best things about human relationships.
Meet in the real world!

PHILOSOPHY

It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people.

Pratchett's and Gaiman's "Good Omens"

Honesty is the best policy
(especially with one's self)

Trying to make the best out of life, even when it's difficult. Always eager to learn and to meet interesting people.
I'm not a believer (in any higher power).
I always manage myself with a big quota of respect towards anybody.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can offer my house, my company, help you out whenever possible to me. But like one Bulgarian guy that I met in a hostel in Prague said "It's all about the people" so getting people together and arranging opportunities for that is just as important for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been both a host and a guest and also attended several meetings and also organised some of those myself. And in these moments and surrounded by all these incredible people I feel more comfortable than I did in many other times in my life.

Interests

I love literature, art, music and basically people. I think they can be the most beautiful and complex works of art.

I like to write my own stuff. Hopefully, I'll get published some day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Trying to keep this short (and utterly failing):

Movies:
Anything by Hitchcock, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, Tim Burton (except Planet of the Apes, what was he thinking?), Jean-Pierre Jeunet (with or without Caro), Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, Robert Rodríguez and more to come.

Authors:
J. D. Salinger, Terry Pratchett (more of an adiction , actually), Roald Dahl, Neil Gaiman, J. R. R. Tolkien, Julio Cortázar, Liliana Bodoc, Gabriel García Márquez, Frank Herbert, Umberto Eco. Many more and many children´s authors like Lewis, Rowling, Snicket and Pullman.

Books:
"The secret of the Old Forest" by Dino Buzzati
"The curious incident of the dog at night time" by Mark Haddon
"The world according to Garp" by John Irving
"The cold skin" by Albert Sánchez Piñol
"On the Road" by Jack Kerouac

Music:
In different degrees of appreciation,
Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Jazz (Ella, Billie, Louis), Norah Jones (the first things she did), The Clash, The Cure, Sex Pistols, The Killers and The Kills (a different band altogether), Björk, Beck, Blur, Queen, and many oldies (great music for dancing.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-It's more something I felt. When Pearl Jam came in 2005 I went to see them. The colective energy of everybody in the field was incredible - they played in a soccer stadium.

- The top of the Pucara de Tilcara. The entire view of the Quebrada de Humahuaca is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen and the only way to describe what I felt is that I flowed with the world.

- Gravity is quite amazing, so bungee jumping from the Cabra Corral Dam was frikin' awesome.

- I generally don't get bedazzled by manmade things, but the Palais Garnier was incredible. A perfect balance of many different elements in one small place.

- Tayrona Park in Colombia. If I were a religious man I would say it is heaven.
