About Me

AHUL!

I've been pretty unactive in a few years due to different reasons. Anyway, try your luck!

For so long I tried couchsurfers read my profile... I still have hope! :P

If you are looking for the "Spanish experience" I'm not your host.

This is Canary Islands, a colonized place where tourism is killing our land and empovering its inhabitants.

Write your request in your native language if it's one of the languages I speak! That will be great!
Дорогие русские мои, пишите на русском. Не бойтесь. Да, eсть иностранцы которые говорят по-русскии. Бывает! ;-)

I am a Canarian-Peruvian-Catalan 39yo guy who loves languages and music living in Tenerife.
When people ask me where I come from, sometimes it's hard to ask. So I'll give you three possible answers:

1. Canary Islands
2. Catalonia
3. Peru

Now you choose!! ;-)

People think I am a party guy, but I'm not!!! (Well, I'm not sure... but I would say I'm not!! or... damn!) :D

In your request, please, avoid things like: heey i'm coming to Spain, wanna know the Spanish culture bla bla, I've already told you the 3 countries I belong to) ;-)

After 15 years on CS, I don't have to be politically correct anymore so: there are over 400 million Spanish speakers all around the world so if you want to learn or practice Spanish, my place is NOT the place!
As a couchsurfer I'm sure you are eager to learn the local culture so I will teach you some Catalan instead, we are just around 9 million speakers but we are as cool as Spanish speakers, come on! Don't miss our past tense in Catalan, it's so cool and easy!!! :D (Well this text was when I was living in Barcelona but I like it so I leave it here ;-))

BTW, I'm gay (bi-curious sometimes), and yes, this is an important part of my life ;-) But actually, the 95% of male guests I've had, were straight. I think they survived the experience, Don't be afraid! See references below! LOL

Our islands are being sold to outsiders with the help of our politicians. We are forced to believe that tourism is the future but statistics show a very different story. Please, avoid big hotel resorts and businesses run by non local people (difficult task but still try please).

Salaries here are way to low. Help locals and not foreign residents who came to make money destroying our land and worshipping the tourism by using locals in their advantage working in touristic shops that WE DON'T NEED. ;-)

Thanks!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a classical musician, that means that I love classical music. BACH, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovski, Poulenc...

I also love Jazz and folk music from all over de world (unfortunately, flamenco is not one my favourites..;-))

Books?? I (used to) read a lot but mostly musical and linguistic stuff, out of that it's hard to say: Dostoievski, Sanchez Pinyol...

About movies I definitely like Tim Burton and Almodovar and other weird European stuff. :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Boat trip on the Amazonas: amazing!
Understanding other people's perspectives and ways of living

Teach, Learn, Share

Do you know something that only local people know?
We don't use "Barça" as a diminutive form of "Barcelona". We just say Barcelona or sometimes "Barna".
Barça is only used for the soccer team (the best one, by the way) :D

Can you tell me some more secrets of our world? :))
