ABOUT ME

My name is James. I'm in a band called Bad Lucy and we're going on a short road trip to Texas for a few shows in Houston and Austin at SXSW 2013... We've never used couchsurfing before but have surfed plenty of couches. We're looking for a place to crash on March 14th and 15th in north Houston near the Woodlands which is where we'll be playing on the 15th, and March 16th in or near Austin before we head back home to Phoenix. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a few couches in my day. I am new to CS.com, and excited to meet some gnarly people.

Interests

Driving into the void... I started my couch surfing account in 2007 (although I've never used it) because at the time I was living out of my car in Boulder, CO and thought it might come in handy to get linked up with an online community of like minded individuals...however, the universe seemed to take care of me during my time on the road and I ended up not needing to use it. Music is my obsession and I've either been playing in a band, writing, recording or doing something music related for 10 years but in between I relish any opportunity to get out doors and connect with nature... I've done a fair amount of roughing it, sleeping in my car, backpacking in New Mexico, surfing... but I also like being home :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: the science of sleep, y tu mama tambien, todos sobre mi madre, motorcycle diaries, the fountain, stay, guatemalan handshake, spirited away, steamboy, amelie... Music: Citizen Bird, Jeff Buckley, Three Mile Pilot, Magnetic Fields, Hawkwind, The Brianjonestownmassacre... Books: I'm reading on the road right now for obvious reasons, also poetry like Rilke, or Rumi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hearing a song I wrote on national television... that's gotta be up there with experiencing the birth of a child (something that will definitely be at the top of this list once I experience that) ...songs are like babies in a way. Musical babies. They grow up and have a life of their own.

My wedding day...when my wife walked down the aisle. I didn't see that coming... I mean in the sense that I didn't think I was going to be so emotional. One of the most intense moments of my life.
