About Me

I am a tinker, actor and a fanboy for science, with an uncanny knack for getting into weird situations.

I plan to make my life in this universe the envy of all other possible versions of the lives in the other parallel universes. The challenge is on Geirs ad infinitum!

"We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting." - Khalil Gibran

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The vast majority of people are kind and good. That is one great thing I have learned from travelling, surfing and hosting with CS. It brings a smile on my face.

Interests

Audiobooks, adventuring, storytelling, cave exploring, kayaking, hunting and foraging, creating and designing, inventing and tinkering, 3D printing, classical libertarianism, futurism, mythologies, acting, cooking, napping and eating good food and drinking good wine (preferably all at almost the same time in a hammock).

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music:
Sigurrós, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Daft Punk, Jimi Hendrix, The rat pack, Christopher Tin, Genki Sudo, epic movie and video game music, oh and I love classical music - best musical work of all times is Rodrigo - Concierto de Aranjuez.

Favorite movies:
Alright, I freaking love Disney and Pixar movies, I might even spontaneously start singing a Disney villain song. Then there is Spirited Away, How to Train Your Dragon (one and two), Casablanca, Amélie, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, The Great Dictator (best speech in the world), The Man from Earth, Harakiri, Seven Samurai, Boondock Saints, The Motorcycle Diaries, American Psycho, Fight club, Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, The Thing, The Truman Show, Princess Mononoke, The Dollars Trilogy, Back to the Future and Lawrence of Arabia.

(I'll sneak this in) Favorite TV shows:
Anything with David Attenborough, Futurama, Blackadder, Arrested development, The Simpsons (only series 2 to 10!) Duckman, Invader Zim, Firefly, Breaking Bad, Beelzebub, Vikings, Game of Thrones, Rick and Morty and then my favorite Cosmos (Both with Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson).

Favorite books:
Oh where to begin? The Icelandic Sagas are awesome but the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas is my favorite book of all times, I can read it again and again. Then I read mostly educational, philosophy, sci-fi and fantasy books. I have one rule: I have to finish one educational book for every book I read for pleasure. I did have a rule to only read books for pleasure that have withstood 100 years of criticism, but I'm weak and easily fall for temptations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lost in the jungle, moment with a whale, ran for parliament, lost in a castle, hitch-hiked with a murderer, flew a plane over an volcanic eruption, swam away from sharks, jaw dislocated by thugs, celebrated the new year on a Maya pyramid, interrogated in a embassy, went on a pilgrimage through Israel and Palestine with a bunch of bishops, encounter with a bear, skydived, stole a horse, went barefoot through a lava cave, fled a storm on a row-boat, fell in love and got dumped before a Viking style wedding, and much more. Behind every little thing is a story.

Teach, Learn, Share

- I can inform people about Icelandic history and nature.
- Maybe to fish or hunt puffins (if it's hunting season).
- Teach you to speak or/and write the language of the Vikings (Icelandic).
- Teach you some Icelandic cooking.
- Give a crash course on Austrian economics and classical libertarianism.
- Teach some design techniques and 3D printing.

If you got something and it's worth knowing, then I want to learn it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will share my friendship, my cooking, my adventures and Icelandic plays and songs.
