I'm wide eyed and wondering. open minded and creative. sometimes I space out and live in my own little Lauren world. you'll know if I'm staring out a window and my eyes glaze over :)
I like to make people feel good. Definitely a bit shy at first til we get to know each other a bit. Though I love to be around people. I like to challenge myself in life. I'm here to grow.

PHILOSOPHY

Live with compassion and awareness. Slow down the mind to get the optimal experience of living in the present moment. Balance work with play. Be humble, and thankful for the beauty in this crazy world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met a number of fabulous couchsurfers already. They make me proud of the human race. Good people. Such open hearts and minds, and are very welcoming to newcomers in the couchsurfing community. I look forward to more events and getting to know everyone better.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first surfing experience this summer 2008. It was great. CouchSurfing, I love you. I can't wait to repay the favor and host someone here in Boston. I don't own a couch yet... but I'm working on it...

Interessen

Art in general gets a big hooray, photography, making movies just for fun, volunteering. I love acting and was once in an improv group. Awesome fun people. Hooray for sports too (playing rather than watching). tennis, running, rollerblading, yoga, soccer, I like to play! I love learning new languages. I just have to practice more. Cutting up old clothes and trying to make new ones. I like to be outside, and climb things. I'm a monkey. I find psychology fascinating, really interested in the human mind. Exploring consciousness and reality. Dancing! Oh, that should be at the top of my list. I don't know any formal dance techniques, but I LOVE to dance as the music moves me.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Pan's Labyrinth, Lord of the Rings, Y tu mama tambien, Secret of Roan Inish, Volver, Children of Men- that was really good. Music, my taste varies. Arcade Fire, Snow Patrol, Regina Spektor, Snatam Kaur, Blackmore's Night, Sufjan Stevens, Xavier Rudd, Manu Chao, Lavender Diamond, the Reindeer Section, Emm Gryner, Genesis, Arab Strap, Dresden Dolls. I like traditional Celtic music too. Siuil a run!
I like checking out local bands here in Boston too. Books: Explorers of the Infinite, His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman, anything Rumi, Pablo Neruda, The Little Prince, Tale of Two Cities, Heart of Yoga, Plato, Harry Potter books, most books by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Seen the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. Overcome some rough times and big obstacles in my life. I've seen the strength and resilience of the human spirit.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

New project: I want to learn how to play the djembe, or similar type of hand drum.
I'd like to learn mountain climbing. And any language I don't already know. So pretty much anything but English.
I could discuss printing techniques for fabric designs. I could share my knowledge of Adobe photoshop, illustrator, or macromedia flash... or show you a yoga pose or two!
