About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mission? Hmmm... Well, when it's all said and done, that I have improved the world wherever my little influence influenced.

ABOUT ME

Guests are finding this place incredibly awesome and inspiring. Some of them are returning feeling that this is A destination in and of itself. The views are incredible! I'm slightly alternative in health, food, house, etc.... I live in the foothills of the Oauchita Mountains on the side of a hill with awesome views of the mountains and valley. We are on 40 acres in a strawbale house (still being worked on) with off-grid power, etc. Lovin' it.... We call the place WindingRidge Homestead (see http://www.oem-surplus.com/hs). We also raise wolves. Have two children who moved out not too long ago but of course will still visit. And since I'm currently way out in the country, I love the stars and the Milky Way. I'm an amateur astronomer wannabe. Here's something interesting we've recently done on our house project that includes a dragon, some wolves and butterflies! We're adding some bas reliefs to the natural earthen stucco on our house. It's actually turning out pretty cool. You can see a YouTube video at http://youtu.be/ULB-iJGZbAw. (There are a couple of other videos as well which you can easily find on the YouTube site.)

PHILOSOPHY

If I do something good to/for you... you don't owe me... just pass on the good deed. What a different world this would be if everyone did that!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I surf and host. I guess I surf more but I really enjoy hosting. Although, I'm so off the beaten path that not many make it down to this corner of Oklahoma.... So come on down everyone! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This whole idea is exciting to me that there is actually an organized "couchsurfing" effort. I used to do this all the time when possible. I valued meeting local people so much more than spending lots of $$ on sterile hotels/motels. My place has always been open to travelers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

March of 2010 my daughter and I spent our spring breaks going to Haiti and helping out in the earthquake recovery effort for two weeks. I'm sure we benefited more than the locals but we did do as much as we could. Absolutely, an unforgettable experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to show folks an easy alternative way of living which really isn't primitive at all. I do have modern conveniences! Love to learn about all this stuff as well.
